Short description:

"Egyptian cotton is noted through out the world as one of the finest cottons available. We are proud to be able to offer our customers this fine material for modelling purposes. All the following threads are 100% Egyptian cotton and are unbleached natural colour should you wish to dye them. The material has very low lint characteristics with a unique linen finish.

This material is over 30 years old and it can never be produced again. It's quality has to be seen to be believed. Made in Lancashire this material is renowned for its quality and was long thought to have disappeared, luckily the company that supplies us has found this treasure hiding in there stock room. Stock they did not even know they had it's so long since anybody has seen it! To that end we have now bought all the stock so as to be able to share this with fellow modellers."

Time for weld lines.
I didnt use the Archer transfers, due to complex curvature of the hull.
Instead i went the path of masking, and filling.

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/4...l005ek1.th.jpg

I need to sand the welds using the 1200 grade sandpaper, to smooth the surface a bit.
I want the welds to be barely visible against the light when painted.

Just spent the last 2 or so hours reading through this... Incredible work you've done there, mate! I've never modelled (Well, I did put a basic F-6 Skyray together once), but I know how it feels to work on something for a long time and watch it come together.

The amount of detail is incredible, looking forwards to seeing the finished product. :yep:

Siara 12-23-08 05:47 PM

Thanks guys! Appreciate it.

Few extra details under the deck i forgot about earlier.

It's looking awesome bud, are you gonna try and get it in a museum? I seriously think you should, it would look great in the boat bit of the Science Museum.

That depends how much money they can spend.
If the price is good- who knows.
Jokes aside, work started on the deck furnishings.
First line of attack- bollards.

Heres couple of pictures of the part in stowed possition:

...and raised:

I have 4 different sets of bollards to choose from. Im thinking about Modelbrass set.

I will depict most bollards in stowed possition, and couple slightly raised to show nice variation of detail on deck.

I decided on Modelbrass. I think it offers best possibility to create the hollow bollard.
I used the 2.5mm diameter brass tubing to cut 12 sections- 5mm each.
The top part of the bollard was glued on.

Modelbrass set has only 2 plates pointing in different directions, the other 4 are wrong.
I made new set from scratch for stern bollards.

Most forward set of bollards:

One more at the stern, and i can start heeling my fingers.:D

Siara 12-25-08 06:09 PM

Last set of bollards.
No plate under them, as the deck is steel here anyway.
Bit tricky, because the Eduard deck had the set of bollards already etched in, so carefull sanding was required, as not to damage antislip surface.
But it worked.
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1...tes6001ol4.jpg

All the bollards have been completed today.
Looks like Christmas work good for modellers.:D
