I bet that filter is supposed to have a housing over it. Seems like the screen would have oil pumped through it.

Absolutely mad 3D skills.
:D |
I'm willing to bet the airfilter is much like what Tomi has here. Old time filters were wire mesh on the outside with paper filament on the inside of the mesh. A lot of filters today are constructed the same way. One exception, there are housings around them as you see on cars, etc. The Torsk filters look like this but do have a housing with the end cap open about 5 or more inches that you can see the wire meshing and filament filter papers. These hook to the intake tube and finally meet the induction ports.
In the really poorly drawn red circles are the filters for the engines. They are exactly like Tomi's but are connected to a intake pipe as this engine was opposing cylinders and the intake was down the side of the engine were Tomi's is on the top. I would not do a thing with the filter Tomi. I'm guessing it hooked to a pipe off the intake and pulled air from the surrounding cabin. http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...Torsk032-1.jpg |

Air filter/wire mesh: http://tahaprincess.com/cart/image/air-filter.jpg If anything, the engine would have a sump were filters like this were put into the pan. Mercedes were famous for that and I believe they still use this sump type filter today. Mercedes oil filter that fits in the oil pan/sump: http://www.geocities.com/mymercedesb..._filter_01.jpg Again, Tomi, I would leave your air filter alone. It gets the air from the open hatches and surrounding cabin air. |
Good call.

Yes, that works Tomi. Perfect! Excellent!:up:

[das boot]I can almost hear the chief mechanic telling the captain that one of the engines is off the mount, and the captain telling him to keep going! [/das boot]

this is looking so realistic we will be able to climb aboard and go to sea soon :) wonderful work!

Good counters to my answer above. An oil filter might look like that, but would certainly have a cover over it. Probably an air filter then. But, as pointed out by everyone, it probably is its own connection, and no hoses or anything should be added.

Incredible work, you're going to bring a new sense of life to the boat with this one. Any chance we'll see crew members in there?
Actually having a few pops and watching Das Boot right now, will follow up with a hop into Operation Monsun to cap off my U-Boat evening. |

Look at Hans...he loves his engines. Treats them like babies. Nice work Tomi. Looks fantastic!

No, everything looks in proportion. I know the Torsk has hand wheels that are very large and others that are small. Really, all looks great! In fact, the two hand wheels you are talking about are very large on the Torsk. These wheels are about 200 pounds each. So, no, you hand wheel looks fine.
My poor computer drawing skills. I have circled this wheel on the Torsk. It is large like yours. In fact, I think you are dead on with your wheel size. http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...IMG_0693-1.jpg |
Just making sure;
This is an entire interior mod, for SH4, type II class u-boats? |
