I wouldn't bother with Oblivion, honestly. Its dated, the level system sucks.
If anything I'd jump in Morrowind... level system still sucks, but the bad guys don't scale to level. Also you have to read most of the game because there isn't very much voice acting but still its the better game. + Levitation |

(also, Oblivion's leveling does not suck. :O:) |

Keep in mind that you can get it without Steam, in one pack with Shivering Isles and maybe even Knights of Nine - for 10 Euros. Also keep in mind that you need the time to play two such monster games. Much time. Very, very, very much time. ;) |
No, Oblivion is not a bad game at all. If you have not played it you should do so; it is completely worth your time. In that respect, you should play Morrowind too if you have not. Hell, Fallout 3 and New Vegas are must-plays as well, if we are to run down the Bethesda's greatest hits list. However, I will echo the sentiment that Oblivion's leveling system does indeed suck.
That being said, all of those games plus Skyrim should keep you busy for the next decade. |
Thanks for the input everyone. Looks like I'll be going straight for Skyrim then, given that time is sort of an issue. As I said in the Steam thread I just aquired ME1, ME2, Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat so there won't be lack of games to play any time soon :D

So, Thor Hamrflingr met his first Dark Brotherhood assassin the other day, this is an interpretation, through the means of expressive art, of how the meeting went:

I spent 2 hours last night fiddling with Fallmers one of the thieves guilds quest.
Dying, over and over. And if that wasn't enough, over and over again. I got back on it after a good nights sleep, and noticed you can sneak past the Fallmer spam areas. 80 sneak and thought nothing of using it. The last spam room was a doozy. Protip: Look up I am not giving the key back either!:03: It turns a certain skill into a joke. What a great game. It seems to require more brains than hack, cast, block, than past TES games. (being vague on purpose, spoiler fears) |
Damn straight it is a great game. Can you imagine this thing next year when it is mature? After the DLCs are out and the modders have had time with the construction kit (which I imagine will be released eventually), this is probably going to be the greatest RPG of all time. I'm almost embarrassed to say how much time I have spent playing it thus far. :haha:

and see if I can change a few things to suit my preferences. :hmmm: The CK is rumored to be released early December, btw. Probably around the time the first PC patch arrives. |

My steam name is the same as my name here, so feel free to see how pathetic I am. (I will add all known subsim folks) All sillyness aside Bethesda has never disappointed me. Fallouts were awesome, I loved all TES games. They mastered the open sandbox world. Even more so than the Grand Theft Auto series, which is also a good sandbox game. I will have to pry myself away to play Assassins Creed: Revelations when it releases for PC on the 29th. I may not be able to. |

Oh hello and welcome aboard. :salute:

This game is near perfect, this game is a mmo killer for me and that's a big thing cause I love my mmo's no other rpg has come close to wanting me to stay away from online gaming. Recent sp rpgs like DAO, DOW 2, Fallout 3 good games but after a few days i would log back into my favorite mmo. With Skyrim I haven't log into an mmo since I started playing on the 13th Nov. Skyrim is the cure for mmo addicts.
I installed this Inventory mod last night moves the menu to the top and adds table contents. Nice! Install with the nexus mod manager. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=667 |
