I have been trying to fix tonnage bar problems with British Coastal Waters mission at the beginning. (I.e bar doesn't fill up when you sink tonnage!!!)
I heard that Open Horizons II does things to fix up mission objectives and remove tonnage bar etc. I would prefer a light version so I tried Open Horizons Light v3. There is still a tonnage bar however, when I did a sinking, it DID register properly. What I want to know is this: does Open Horizons Light v3 fix the tonnage-bar-doesn't-fill-up problems?? Or is it still a problem anyway? If so what is the solution? Install the full version of the mod? Is the Light version sufficient to fix that exact problem? Thanks. :salute: |
Hi RG
The tonnage bar is now an on going problem with SH5. My recommendation would be to use one of the mega mods that removes the tonnage bar from the game. My downloads section has all the links. Highly recommended. Treat Yourself To The Wolves Of Steel Mega Mod <> SH5 The Dawn Of A New Beginning + this add on mod enabled last. The Wolves Of Steel > Adds The Missing Target Identify Icon Back > Wind & Smoke addon Mod The other option if you want to continue with your own mods is to use my tutorial post #188. Peter |
Thanks Peter. :salute: Very helpful.
So, do you personally use that setup you described above? I.e. wolves of steel, + wind&smoke add-on? And does that work well? Huw (RG) |

Hi vecko
You told me to add this mod when I had problems with ctd's in Kiel on the outbound Skagaraat route when I did not attack a Polish ship entering Kiel. Planes then bombed the ship I got a ctd. The mod fixed the problem and no more ctd's. Are you saying that the mod has now done its job and I should definitely remove it? I am currently in my 5th Patrol, South Western Approaches. 48 manual saved games to date without any problems. Proof of a stable game platform for TWOS Peter |

By the way, those Polish merchants in Kiel or in Kiel canal are randomly activated by the campaign engine and you can deal with them in two ways: Sink them (an easy kill for campaign opening :O:) or you can tweak your days in bunker to avoid encounter...:yep: Quote:

H Vecko
Thanks for the reply and info which I will act on asap. I am recommending TWOS everywhere I can. I can see no point to day in making your own mods soups with mainly out of date mods that lead to problems when you have tried and tested mega mods available. Peter |
I have been in Silent Hunter for many years and can highly recommend TWOS. Thanks! :yeah:

Does anyone know is this value (GroupTypeDef.cfg) referred to distance between ships in single column or distance between columns inside group?:hmmm:

Captain still training???
I am currently towards the end of the costal waters campaign and have sunk roughly 140,000 tons of shipping -However when look at my crew details, instead of putting a rank for my character it just says "Training 74%". I have completed 5 patrols and have just started my 6th in the type VIIB.
Is this normal or is something bugged with my campaign? (Also I still have not received the U-Boat War Badge but have received my front clasp and Iron Cross Second Class but this seems to be an issue more with the game than the mod. I am currently playing with: The Wolves of Steel 1.04 The Wolves of Steel 1.04 - Patch 4 The Wolves of Steel - 16x9 Resolution Patch |

I also would like to know what a couple of other parameters (marked in red below) mean: Code:
[QMARY_escorted] The "Columns" parameter is also straightforward, but I wonder what is the meaning of setting it to "0". Maybe it lets the game to sort the convoy structure automatically. Last doubt I have is about ships position within convoys. In theory tankers and ships carrying war supplies should hold the lesser exposed positions of each convoy, with lesser valuable ships steaming on the wings. Has anyone noticed if the same happens in game? If not, I wonder if ships' positions are totally automatic or if we can do anything to "force" the most precious ships to be placed within the inner columns. Maybe your patch will help sorting this issue too :hmm2: |
