And thanks in advance for the whole moding community that will surely do its best again, when the time comes

Well hopefully SHV wont need much modding :haha:

Seriously, I was talking Kpt Lehmann earlier and its true what he says, the more you look at the SHV screenshots the more you can notice some really nice looking things - graphically speaking.

Dynamic shaddows appear to be inplace (at least on the U-boats them selves)

The Draw distance looks fantastic. I can see tree covered landscapes looming on the horizon

The partical effects for ocean and bow spray.... are breathtakingly beautiful :o

I think even the harshest crtics will cave in when they see it properly (in action.)

Hey!!....I was part of that conversation as well :stare:

I wouldn't be too sure about the critics though :DL

indeed, with GWX4 cancelled, this better be frikkin brilliant :arrgh!:
(with the lightheartiest of intentions, of course)

well... after finding out that gwx wont eventualy mess with this game... Its seem to have kind of lost its spunk for me...

If the past silent hunters are any thing to base SH5 on... Its gonna be an arcadeish game where you can just leave the harbor and find a ship, that has little realism, lots of bugs...

but we can only hope not... but sadly I cant see it happening...

GWX4 has been cancelled?! On who's authority?!:damn:

i dont think there is any doubt that sh5 will have a new version of GWX modded for it but unless GWX4 is almost already finished theres probably not much willpower for continuing work on a GWX for sh4

Well I think if SH5 will be needing for GWX5 it will take much less work to be done rather than they had with GWX4. I personally think that seeing SH5 far on the horizon coming it was no point to continue work on GWX4.

I hope they get back together to put out anouther great mod!!!:DL

I just hope that people don't get too focused on "only GWX can fix this!" that they lose sight of other existing and new modders that will no doubt appear, with SH5 being a whole new game and all (unlike SH4) where every modder is on the same learning curve. ;)

I would hate to see potential modding gurus (remember, even the GWX team started as novices) get disheartened because "only GWX matters", which I see has already started.

I think Lehmann's announcement today opens the door to new, fresh, and exciting ideas and opportunities for both new modders and those modders who have for years "lived in the shadows". Remember what non-GWX modders achieved in SH4 (both PTO and ATO). Foster it.

Just remember: a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. ;)

hey relax :) No one says that other people who are modding by their own are forgotten. It's just that the larger group of modders can do one job (project) faster spreading themselves into work segments and can achieve results in shorter period of time than a one human being on his own working on seperate things. Knowledge, modding skills and completion of objectives reunites them as a team and I think it is the most important thing for achieving best results.

Experience of these people who worked hard all these years with GWX projects is at high level. So in my opinion loosing these talents would start everything from a null again with new maybe less experienced modders.

:hmmm: Did you actually read my post? I never said teams were bad. My comment is for those who think that *only* the GWX team can solve all their problems. A deserved compliment for the GWX team yes, but a potential backhander to anyone else, even those that may wish to form a team of their own (shock horror). And given Lehmann's own words in his thread today, you may be holding out for a very long time for GWX5, maybe even longer than GWX4...

In other words, players should keep an open mind and foster the talent that does emerge, rather than pine for something that may not (dare I say won't) eventuate. Look forward, not backwards.

You are forgetting that SH5 is a new platform, meaning everyone starts from "null". No point being the most knowledgable expert on SH3 file structures if, erm, SH5 doesn't use them. ;)

Contact 08-31-09 04:35 AM

My bad  All is clear :shucks:

Arclight 08-31-09 05:51 AM

I must say I was thinking the same thing, though worded a little differently.

The "it's crap untill the Grey Wolves are done with it" attitude was getting old. For SH4 we have RFB, TMO and RSRDC, but those were kicked to the curb as if they were nothing. :nope:

Nothing but respect for the crew, GWX is a great mod, but it breeds some seriously nasty followers.

difool2 08-31-09 09:40 AM

I wonder if Ubi would be willing to let the GWX team become beta-testers, as in work on their mod before the game is released.

I don't agree with you there. Not all users here like to make mods, but they like to use them. If you have any experience modding sh3 and 4 it will serve you a lot in sh5, simply because you will already know how to mod such a game and know what to expect from modding.
