Question: In SH4, there was a mod, "Radio Station Manager" I think was the name. It allowed one to edit the radio. As a result, you could add to each "radio station" "events".

I copied the radio log from SH4 into SH5. All the songs are there. So are the news events. However, they (the news events) don't play.

Is there a way to fix this so radio broadcasts do play news events?

Would like to know that too.

I am currently using Grossdeutscher Rundfunk with TWOS. I just checked in the files and it doesn't have an events folder or an events.ini.

All the sound files are in the main Grossdeutscher Rundfunk folders (1939 to 1943) so I assume that the files just play sequentially like the gramophone. I'm not sure a I don't speak German to tell if the news broadcasts are in order by date.

I had asked this question in another thread, http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=218215 when I was trying to work out if SH5 had program support for the events.ini structure like SH3/4 did.

The other day after installing TWOS, (Fantastic work BTW) I was on my way to Danzig once again after a new career start, listening the the BBC on the radio when to my surprise, a news flash interrupted the music with the British ultimatum for Germany to withdraw from Poland and then later with the Declaration of War, (so I finally had the answer regarding SH5 and the events.ini.)

I was quite chuffed about this and then BdU sent a message to confirm what I had heard!

I had replied in another thread about Carotio's radio mod as per the quote below but have not had any replies regarding this.
"Digital Trucker - RadioStationManager v1.2" is what you are looking for. I am unable to find a link at the moment for you. I'll post it if I'm successful...Found it here......http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...d=592&act=down

Hello,

I have a little problem. I chose a mission and it directed me to AN1814 patrol area.

First, I just see AN18 grid with no second pair of numbers visible anywhere, so I don't know where to look for the "14". In other words, I can get to AN18 easily, but I don't know where to look for AN1814.

Second, if I click on the "mission icon" nothing happens. While in the bunker it showed the location I was supposed to get but once in the boat clicking on the same icon has effect.

I'm not very expert at modding so I'm using Wolves of Steel megamod.

I've just sunk 2 ships within AN18 area but the objectives still show as incomplete.

What should I do?

You can go out on the internet and see original grid maps for U-Boats from WWII. In them, each grid was subdivided into 99 areas (I think :hmm2:).

Hince Grid 14, sub area 18.

Look on the "net" for these old maps and you'll have an idea.

Thanks. I still have my original d/l of that mod.

However, like I said, it worked perfect in SH4. So when I copied the "radio" log from 4 to 5, music plays, but no news events.

Do you mean radio.ini file is the same as your "radio" log? If so, did you change the appropriate folder names in the radio.ini from SH4 to match your folder names in SH5?

Logically, I would think that Grossdeutscher Rundfunk would work if you use only one radio mod in SH4 or SH5.Perhaps you have more than one radio mod installed for SH5? Is there another radio mod installed after Grossdeutscher Rundfunk with JSGME that overwrites the radio.ini file perhaps?

Try giving me a week. I have fixed many radio mods in the past using RSM or manual tweeks when necessary for SH4 or SH5.

I think that the actual radio channels may be numbered differently in SH4 but I'm not a 100% sure.

SH5 radio station channels are numbered with spacings of "11" as per the copy of my radio.ini below.

I suggest checking your events.ini in the events folder as well with Radio Station Manager to make sure that they are all in order.

While trying to get my radio working correctly, I printed out the events.ini so that I knew the date and time of the upcoming news broadcast.

Most radio station news events only occur once or twice a month so it's easy to miss them if you're not surfaced with the radio on at that exact time.

EDIT: The "old" version of Grossdeutscher Rundfunk that I'm using doesn't have an Events folder, rather just has everything in the main folder so just plays everything sequentially, music and news events at the same volume as you can see by the MusicVolumeOnNews=20.9 in my radio.ini (waiting for someone to come up with the missing Part 3 of the "new" version :D)

No I don't have another radio mod.

Have not tried the other as I am limited on space on my HD.

Actually, my stations are spaced by 20. Washington on 20, Radio Free Pacific is at 40, etc

They are.

I am aware of that.

Mine does. For instance, the BBC folder has music and a folder for "Events".

I just changed my radio.ini to random frequency numbers and the radio just used those new frequency numbers without any problems....so it looks like your setup should work. If the events.ini are all in order according to RSM, I'm unsure as to where the problem could be with your setup. :hmm2:

Can anyone confirm that these ships can be heard on hydrophones? :hmmm:

They can definitely be heard by the hydo guy because I've just recently used 4 bearings on both. The only thing is, I can't remember if I actually listened through the hydrophone myself :nope: For me, the contact has to be getting nearer to medium range before I can actually hear the audio.

Wouldn't you know it, I ask a question, and the next thing I know its working.

I may be wrong, and frequently am, but if the contact displays a line from your boat to the target, you can hear it.
