The Enigma 03-26-13 10:40 AM

What about Pink Floyd?

Do you like music from Pink Floyd?

Herr-Berbunch 03-26-13 10:52 AM

Abso-blummin'-lutely I do. :yeah:

Favourite Floyd track?

The Enigma 03-26-13 03:45 PM

I can't choose, let's say:
Wish you were here
Echoes
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Hey You
Eclipse
Time
High Hopes
Arnold Lane
Comfortably Numb
Astronomy Domine
and and and....

Do you prefer to listen to music in your car, or at home or another place?

TarJak 03-26-13 04:24 PM

Wherever I am.

Do you find music soothing or exciting?

Jimbuna 03-26-13 05:16 PM

Soothing.

Where are we going next?

Cybermat47 03-26-13 05:21 PM

Who knows? I mean, is there life after death, or is it just oblivion? I don't know man, but... It keeps me up at night.

Why am I mis-quoting Red vs Blue?

Jimbuna 03-26-13 06:28 PM

Because you need sleep.

Is youth wasted on the young?

STEED 03-26-13 07:47 PM

Yes 100%

Is life over rated?

Cybermat47 03-26-13 07:58 PM

You cannot say until you know death.

Why am I so doom and gloom all of a sudden? Is it because of Slendy?

Red October1984 03-26-13 08:16 PM

No. Slendy didn't do it. As you get older, you realize how dark the world can be. Your innocent childhood is now over.

What's a good way to cheer up? I need something...

frau kaleun 03-26-13 08:27 PM

Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, the fourth movement.

But you knew that was coming, didn't you? :O:

Cybermat47 03-26-13 08:33 PM

No I did not.

Why can't I think of a question?

Red October1984 03-26-13 08:45 PM

Cause. You just can't. Take one from your schoolbooks while your there. :O:

How much time do you spend on Subsim every day?

@frau kaleun I did not see that coming. Is there a specific title for that piece or do I just type in that? Classical music isn't my thing...but I'm willing to try for some sort of joy at the moment. I got some bad news today and I'm not happy about it. :dead:

Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Google it. In fact I'm pretty sure if you just google 'ninth symphony' and hit I'm Feeling Lucky you'll end up at the wiki page for it. There are lots of ninth symphonies, but only one Ninth Symphony. :O:

You can download a free live performance here. That's the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, from last November (I actually attended two of the performances which were awesome).

Note that the fourth and final movement is called the Ode to Joy. It's called that for a reason. :yep: It starts off a bit somber, but it'll get you there in due time. Knowing what they're singing can be be a big help as well.

Whatever your bad news is, I hope it's not too awful or too permanent a situation. But you know you've got friends here and this can be a very supportive place if the need to share arises. If not, it's also a good place to forget your troubles for a while. :)

And here's a video of the Ode to Joy portion of the fourth movement, with approximately 10,000 people singing along. From Japan. Apparently the Japanese absolutely adore the thing. Very sensible folk, the Japanese. :O:

Sorry for the derailment, I now return you to the regularly scheduled silliness.

Edit: oh and if you want a little inspiration with regard to triumphing over adversity - when you listen to this, keep in mind that he was completely 100% stone deaf when he wrote it.

Sailor Steve 03-26-13 10:06 PM

Those Japlandese guys and gals sing great German! :yep:

Any questions?

ps: I spend about four hours on Subsim every day.

I think I'll download that actually. I'm not a big classical music guy...but what the heck. Why not?

*Facepalm* Ode to Joy....I've heard that many many times before. This goes to show that I know next to nothing about classical music. Heck, I had Ode to Joy memorized in music class when we had to play it on the recorder. I hated that oversized whistle...but Ode to Joy was my favorite song to play on it.

It's looking pretty permanent. One of those affecting-the-rest-of-my-life type of deals. It could affect my entire career path. It isn't something I will share...but I really do appreciate support. This news is a pretty hard thing to accept. I'm just going to have to take the days one by one until I find a solution or a better way around this. :dead:

I have no problem with the derailment here. This made me smile for the first time in 2 days. Thanks frau! :yep:

Cybermat47 03-26-13 11:21 PM

Does anybody really know what time it is?

Red October1984 03-26-13 11:32 PM

SLENDERMAN IS NOT COMING FOR YOU CYBERMAT! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR MIND! He's a mythical creature that originated from an old German myth and was fueled by the internet. HE ISN'T REAL!!! :timeout:

When will you stop with the Slenderman stuff? :hmmm: :D

Sailor Steve 03-26-13 11:34 PM

Please stick with the format.

Red said he was going to bed. Why didn't he?
