Long time lurker and recent submariner.

LV,

This looks just awesome. Can't wait to try it.

I have one teensy weensy itsy bitsy smidgy widgy concern though. It happened when I saw your FPS reading and then looked at the PC specs in your sig.:o

Any feedback from your other testers on performance on different spec machines?

Looks like yet another upgrade for me this Xmas.

Regards,

WB.

What makes sence to you?

I'll take.. uhhh... the first.. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Afcourse number 2, so awesome (again!)

Just to throw in my 2 cents...I like the 2nd picture. I would feel better to run it than the close "checkerboard" picture.

Either way...this mod is #1.

Thanks!

those screen shots are from Jaketoox

not me my FPS with the work is actualy 45 to 60 on my PC so don't worry about it WhiskeyBravo

What shimmer effect do you mean Savvy? If you mean the under water distortions Kriller2 has made them look and work a lot better under the water and we got the wave reflections to show up on the hull of the subs through the sunlight so the effect's are much better now!

You will see the difference once Reflection's on the Water mod is released.

To me the ocean and sky environment is the most important part of the game next to the sub's themselves of course so they should look and work the best in the game. Seeing I am not good enough to work with the subs stuff well here we all are now the ocean and sky!

Savvy 09-10-07 02:45 PM

Hi Leo v,

Thanks for the quick reply, yes i mean the distortions from the water, it's no big deal i just wondered if there some parameters that could be tweaked to tone them down a bit, as if you were looking at the sub through swimming goggles.

While i'm here the foam effect looks stunning

Sav.

leovampire 09-10-07 02:51 PM

those are part of the game effect's Savvy

I personaly love them and the look. I want to add to the game not remove stuff that makes it differn't from SHIII but there are ways to remove those effect's on your own personal game that can be done. But I would never release a mod that takes things away from it just make them better.

Like the water impurities they are still there just not as many of them and lighter in color! Something cool to this game just needed to be worked with to look and work better.

Some people have removed them from their own game but again that is something for people to do on their own. I like enhancments of effects not removal.

Like the camera mod l3th4l is working on it is an enhancment that allows the camera to move like you are swaying with the sub in the waves while at a station which is great that is an enhancment.

Enhance make better not take away from the game that is my goal and everyone else working on this mod!

Exactly. The new clouds make a world of difference not to mention a gain in FPS and a bit smoother play. It seems Seeadlers original mod for sea foam and sky really made a difference and I suspect this mod will make a HUGE difference in overall feel and game play.

Savvy 09-10-07 03:05 PM

Ok Dave, i'm with you 100% on your reply. I was just asking if it could be done, it's just my personal likes/dislikes to certain things and nothing more.

Your work is well above anything i could achieve so please don't take my request as a dig at yours and other's work

[Mr Burns] Excellent [/Mr Burns]

Thanks for the info. And a BIG thanks for all you and the others have done for us.

Cheers,

WB.

leovampire 09-10-07 03:16 PM

Your right AVGWarhawk

Seeadler does some awsome work. I use his cloud's mod he made a long time back and his fix for the morphing cloud problem as well and the new sea foam textures he made. I will never argue with that. As a matter of fact the cloud morphing problem he fixed is what led me to ask Jaketoox to look at those FX and PS FX file's in the first place other wise we would still be going nuts trying to figure a way to fix it.

And no worries Savvy just wanted to explain why some of the effect's the game uses will never go away in a mod I am working on that is all.

There is actual a mod post that tells you how to remove the under water distortion effect or fix's it for the people who don't want it so check the Mod's lists that Gizmo and Excalibur Bane made and you will find what your looking for.

rodan54 09-10-07 03:40 PM

All this environment reworking is just abesolutely amazing, can't hardly wait to see it all in action. :D

Just one question. I can't remember if it was stated before, but did you guys implement Kapitan_zur_see's mod for the removal of the "film grain" effect from the PPF filters?

Thanks, and as always keep up the killer work.

leovampire 09-10-07 03:49 PM

yep there is a version of that in the mod rodan54

I don't know who it was made by Kriller2 is handling that! I have never used that effect for my own game so it never mattered to me but someone I had testing the mod asked to get it back and I showed him how to remove that one file so I guess you are coverd there.

I like the real life in game look as you can see in pics I post never liked the old war time movie look they made available. It is a great feature they added just wasn't fo me. There goes that game prefference thing again LOL!!!

We each have one thing we like more than the rest. Personaly I mix and match mod's to get what I am looking for. Just like Redwine did with my test files for this mod work. He dosn't like the waves to cover up his scope so he adjusted LBO to make it go away for his own game. You just need to make things work for you and never take things at face value as the moder intended if you don't like something just change it for your own game.

Just never change a mod and release it without permission from someone then the problems start.

Like for the smoke work I asked Wilhemtell if I could add it to the work seeing we shared the same files then I asked if I can make changes and sent him a copy of it to see and have out of common curtisy if he had said no then I would have relased my stuff without his being included and respect his wishes.

As far as I know everyone has sent a PM to Seeadler asking for permission on things but the only thing I heard from one guy that got a reply was do not use my name in the credit's other than that he hasn't said anything to anyone else. I think he deserve's credit personaly for a lot. But until he tell's me differntly what should I do? What he sent to one person that I was lucky to find out about only because I know him? Always there is things to consider when someone elses work is some how involved.

BTW thanks to someone downloading stuff from my page without permision I have been forced to use other means for my test work thanks for slowing the mod process down and getting it released to everyone!!!

Toastman 09-11-07 02:17 PM

Hi Guys , sorry for the late reply , I've been annoying the neighbours with my guitar !

I have no problem with the current sea textures found in TM16 , running a 3ghz P4 ,Nv7800GS setup , in 1280x1024 high detail .... 30-50 fps .

leovampire 09-11-07 02:44 PM

we are looking into some new sea foam textures

that might be used instead of a fix for the others. Trying to find sea foam that has less holes in the effect so it will blend in better for the way the game engine uses them. Maybe something like this.
