If you gonna look at sh4 exe, maybe you could fix the submerged ranges, recharge time for batteries and CO2 for Operation Monsun.:D

I agree completely. Stiebler you are probably one of few who have the knowledge of subs to know 'the rules' and the discipline not to break them. I think most would rather have the rules enforced by the program. That way everyone that installs the patch is forced to play in a realistic manner with realistic consequences, regardless of their knowledge of what a sub is and isn't capable of.

On ordering a dive during torpedo loading, could you make the sub flood at a very high rate? I hazard a guess that a dive could still be made, it just wasn't very smart!

New Version online: V15D_BETA3.

For details see:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=458

Tested on WinXP/32 Bit and Win7/64 Bit.

Bugs addressed:
1) CTD on some systems during game loading.
2) Instant fatigue of crew when snorkelling.

Could not reproduce an reported error, in which Free Cam (F12) also shows blur effect when submerged speed is above 4,5 knots.

Hi h.sie !

From me a short Test-Report of the Version V15D_BETA3:

I´ve Win 7 64Bit !

First Test: All Naval Academys works fine, no Problems !

Second Test: I load the Museum, after loading complete I see for a little Moment the first ship (by a little darker screen then normal) and then the game crashed to desktop ! I repeat this Test four times, each time with the same result (CTD). No chance to go into Museum !

Third Test: Loading Museum with patched sh3.exe, but without
the File "CameraBehavior.act", same result (CTD after loading, I see for a moment a ship from Museum, then CTD, not during loading).

Forth Test: Loading Museum with your Patch V15C, all is okay and works fine, the same without any patch from you !!!

All Test with the same MOD-Order in JSGME !

Hope that information helps you a little bit !

Best regards,
Magic

First off, I don't know how possible at all this is, but is there an easy way to unlock or free up places / Slots for more subs:88)?

Up till now we have to replace one to get the other!

Is this within the probable?

h.sie 11-19-10 06:04 PM

@Myxale: That's not possible in an easy way. Sorry.

@Magic, thanks for beta-testing and help. I must admit that I didn't test the museum - I even never started it until now, and yes, I could reproduce your bug report. I didn't consider the case that there is no player Uboat at all.

This bug only affects the museum and I've already fixed it. Will be implemented in the next version.

Okay, thanks ! That means, I can play my career with V15D_BETA3, right ? ONLY the Museum crashed, right ?

Best regards,
Magic

Hi Magic,

Yes, that specific bug occurs only when there is no player Uboat: the museum. but since the changes for V15D were complex, I cannot guarrantee that there are no more bugs, although I did many tests, but I could not test all situations. for example, I would never think about to test the museum.

If I were you, I would not play a career with a beta. V15C is stable.

H.Sie,

just to confirm...everything works as intended now with the last patch you released !
one question : if i don't use the camerabehaviour.act will that 'break' anything when using your .exe ?

two wishes (if possible will be extremely good news for me):

a) fix the algorithm that is screwing the reflections on water and appearing this UGLYYYYY ''polygon effect'' !

b) this one ....oh will be fantastic if possible : make the ruler showing ALWAYS (not only during the line) at its end the EXACT DISTANCE of drawn line. i have some more ideas about the ruler but just tell me first if this is possible to be done as far as you can know.
(maybe this will help a little : at sh5...the navigator's plotting lines are 'acting' like this ....they show always the exact distance)

bye

In the data section for the weather I found variables for wind speed, wind direction and an constantly increasing time-counter.

if I manually (using my debugger) set the time-counter to a much higher value, I can immediately trigger the start of a weather change.

this does not mean that I already solved the weather problem, but that I have a chance of lets say 20% to be able to solve it.

wouldn't it be enough to simply shorten the looooong periods of constant weather?
wouldn't this be an effective and perhaps easy to do fix???

so we could furtheron use the complex weather algorithms of SH3 but with shorter changing periods!

h.sie 11-20-10 06:28 AM

call me "Petrus" in the future, because (at least in Germany) Petrus is resonsible for the weather!

h.sie 11-20-10 06:40 AM

@Makman:

Thanks for testing!

If you don't use the patched CameraBehavior.act, you'll not see the blur-effect when submerged speed > 4,5 knots. That's all.

Regarding Polygons: That's graphical stuff I fear to touch. Much too complex and very hard to locate the code without SDK. I must admit I never saw any polygons and I don't know what people talking about.

I don't even know what a "ruler" is. But after working through my over-full to-do list I'll look into that problem. how important is that?

I just triggered some weather changes. looked very nice in high TC. seeing clouds appear and disappear, rain, sun storm and so on.

but then I had a funny situation: rain without clouds.

did that ever happen in stock SH3?

The main problem with the log periods of constant weather is that they were only with bad weather. Fair weather started, then got worse ... and stuck worse. Stiebler managed to provide much longer periods of good weather, and specially a tendency to return to good weather by setting starting weather conditions in campaign files to zero wind, zero clouds, zero rain, zero fog. It seems that the real bug is that once the game gets the signal to roll the dice and make a weather change, the dice tends to always come up with "worser"

But it is worth a try if the fix you can do is as simple as reducing the weather change interval.

Quote:

Here you find a patched EnvSim.act with a very short weather change interval of 2 hours instaed of 40 hours:
Does this mean that the weather is encoded there, and not in the SH3.exe?
