He caught so much heat for allowing the Chinese balloon to traverse the U.S. before dealing with it the first time, he ended up jumping the gun on the others.

I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that the people that operate these type of balloons are required to notify the FAA when, where, these balloons are launched, and give regular location updates when they are in the air.
