Thanks for the reply and I will get one of those tools to compare them myself. However, eager as I was to try this mod, I went ahead and installed it without your commands_de.cfg and so far it's working fine. I also managed to get the big compass from GWX and the wooden stopwatch to work together with it all. Thanks to a little mod from Mikhayl and instructions from Joegrundman.

So far the only functionality that differed from your video is that the knob that opens and closes the TDC will not have any effect at all on the status of the TDC (manual or auto). But this is almost too good to be true as this is exacly as I would like to have it:rock:

This is because I prefer to start with finding the targets course and then set me up perpendicular to that and just point the scope at 000 and AOB at 90 and then into auto mode. But I do this with CTRL-T which will let me have it in auto and still watch it. Gives me something to do while waiting for the target and i can check and recheck the AOB from the TDC with what I calculate from the whiz-wheel and make sure that everything is fine, no change in target course and that my initial observations were correct.

Edit: Lots of MnID lines were changed. I guess I didn't notice because I mostly use the keyboard in this game, but there were probably some mouse commands that didn't work. Everything worked out fine after comparing the two files and implemented everything except the TDC manual/auto that I didn't want implemented:D

Thanks for a GREAT mod!

OMG where did this mod come from!:o:rock:

I have GWX2 install so can i just JSGME this mod straight over it and it will work nicely?

Thanks:up:

Edit: okay i just watched the Video and might have to watch it a few times to get the hang of manual targetting but have also just downloaded the pdf as well. Mod just downloaded but hasn't been enabled yet, but what ive seen in the video is brilliant - im a noob when it comes to manual targetting this mod will fix that i hope. I like the dials setup and what your done to the observation scope.:up::up:

I gotta question. I run the game with OLC in 1600x1200 using that .dll that allows you to change SH3 resolution. It runs fine but there's a problem when you click to reveal the mouse arrow when using the periscope. The default location of the reappearing mouse arrow is down and left over the torpedo depth setting gauge which invariable causes me to reset my torpedo depth each time I click to reveal the mouse arrow.

Is there a setting I can tweak to cause the mouse arrow to reappear dead center in the periscope?

That's one of the things I meant to fix but never got around to, partly because I've no idea which entry to restore; I'm pretty sure I deleted or moved a menu entry which I thought was unnecessary, which in fact repositions the mouse in the centre of the scope, but finding which one of the (many) deleted/changed entries it was is a bit of a chore, and seeing as I play in 1024x768 it was never a high priority for me. Maybe I'll look into it... not promisesing anything though. :p

Just one slight problem before i try this mod, i disabled everything in JSGME then re-enable a few GWX2 addons, OLC, but when i try the Uboat 1.2 mod I get conflicts with OLC. Can the uboat mod work alongside yours? Doesn't matter if it can't i just wont enable Uboat but thought i did ask first.

I dunno, but the warnings seem purely graphical in nature. Maybe first unload OLC, then load Uboat1.2, then reload OLC, thus overwriting the GUI stuff with OLC?

Works fine now. GWX addons Uboat1.2, then OLC like you said, no problems. Why i never seen this mod before i dont know but its a blessing in disguise for wannabe manual learners like myself. If i want to play SH3 i have no choice now but to learn manual targetting. Before i never use to have the yellow arrow with auto everything done for me, but did have the office help. Now the officer help only tells me the identifcation no other options. Manual targetting it is.

So i create a quick single mission with 2 tankers, load her up and use the pdf manual to go through the motions pause game read the steps unpause and repeat. First try i sink the tanker & just missed the second one. Thought i got it pretty much worked out, so load up my career in the med come across a convoy and miss every ship i fired at!:rotfl:Back to the drawing board:88) Will keep practicing in singles missions until i got it properly worked out.

This mod is a must for anyone wanting to learn manual targetting:up:

But for me the bigger compass on right side is too small. Can anyone help me to make this compass bigger.

Something like that:

Maybe all instruments will looks better with bigger size.

Hi there,

I´am preparing a small mod, which combines the Sale-Dials with the OLC-GUI. Just need permission from Sale (OLC has given his already), then I will post the mod ...

just a preview :

http://freenet-homepage.de/latemail/kombi2.jpg

more to come .......

CU

P.S. there will be a small problem; the new dials cover - if opened - a small part of the TDC-bar at the bottom, but I dont´t fire and steer the sub at the same time, do you??

Siara 01-11-08 10:09 AM

The problem with compass has been succesfuly solved.
We / Nikuta and i / got the sliding compass working in OLC `s mod working without the hitch.
So what we ended up with is OLC interface with big sliding compass on the right , just as it was in GWX 2.0.

PS: Your mod looks promissing - keep it up!

WIP: OLC GUI v1.1.4 DARK VERSION (initially for GWX2 only)

Exactly the same as v1.1.4 but the entire GUI is darkened quite a bit. This makes everything in the GUI look... well, dark... but it allows much easier night time use because there isn't such a high contrast between the GUI and the scene. Screenies to follow.

HEY:rock:DARK VERSION for GWX 2.0 !! - THAT's IT:up:
OLC - it looks that you make GUI ENGINE for very long time - just
look at this thread :
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=128597
Testpilot makes new version of this mod - v1.1.
Now i'm using this mod and it works great;)

Could you make DARK VERSION of your GUI with LARGE DIALS as posted above by
Latemail ?
With dark scope screen - NO SIEMENS LOGO VISIBLE ?
Black background around scope ? Only panels and selectors for torpedos visible ?
You can add deep dials - with 50 meters instead of 25
and 400 instead of 250 - like FLBSale.

Just ideas;)

Excellent!!!! That redlight submod only does so much. It was still too bright for my eyes ..... But I guess I need to have patience for a GWX 1.03 version. I'm not thinking of giving up my career yet.

onelifecrisis 01-12-08 12:39 PM

Released: v1.1.5 (currently for GWX 2.0 only)
  • Darkened the entire GUI for lower contrast (much easier night time use).
  • Added recognition manual and target ID to the observation scope (hence the incremented version number). Note that the Flaggen chart in the obs scope will appear behind the recognition manual if the recognition manual is open. Sorry, there's nothing I can do about that.
  • Darkened officer icons are required to make this version work best, so I've included (with permission) darkened versions of JCWolf's excellent 3D Officer Icons. This means that JSGME will complain if you try to combine v1.1.5 with mods such as GWX - Captain America's Officer Icons. You can ignore the JSGME message and combine them anyway if you like, but your officer icons will look a little odd against such a dark background. (any Iain M. Banks fans here? sorry, I digress...)
Feedback please! Do you like the darkened version better?

Cheers,
OLC
