Congratulations to Ostfriese. Well played, a worthy opponent. And a big THANK YOU to Glynn for hosting another great game. :Kaleun_Applaud:

A pity about the small turnout but they've only got themselves to blame.....being in the nick, too busy brawling in the political threads, etc etc....come on missing players....what's more important????

Yes very well done, Osty - there's usually a lengthy deconstruction of the game plus a medal ceremony - but perhaps I should've advertised the event better than I did as the stands were rather empty. Oh well - there's always next time! Here's an extract from a PM I just sent to Arnold - I'd been musing on the drama at the beginning where Vinnie lost his trousers:- "I'd hoped to catch Osty out with the same trick (as per the pace bowler Sir Richard Hadlee) but he proved to be a cunning batsman and spotted the googly" - I think we might increase the cricket content now that we know the Germans have learned how to play :har:

Edit: I've just asked a special mystery guest umpire from Face Book to have a look at the recording of the game and tell us what he thinks

I onlly wear Depends in whack games, not trousers!,:O: My personal adulations to Ostibby! :Kaleun_Applaud: The whack a welsh, dick, aussi games are above my unskilled forte, inasmuch as looking up the subject, rsearching, and placing a WHACK on the computer, given my oft-mentioned slowness with the mouse precludes my effective 'terminator mode' competiveness(with photos) as in the squirrel games. Except for Evonne Gulagong, I don't recognize anyone's face as I cannot decipher faces; incl. even my own wife or family members in crowd situations. There is a Greek name for the inability (prosopagosia) which also hampered my law enforcement career as translating a wanted poster photo to an actual suspect in front of me was nearly impossible. I have no problem with Rocket J. Squirrel or Bullwinkel the moose however!:O: Again congrats to Ostfriese!

When I lived in Northern Ireland (more thn 25 years ago...) people there tried to tell me how cricket worked. I didn't understand much of it (and still don't), but the one person who tried the hardest to explain the game to me was a fan of the Australians.

@ Aktung

Well I had no idea about all that, mate. I told Arnold earlier today that the next outing had better be a good old traditional game - no tricks - so we'll make it a good one and hopefully the only absentee will be The Rock

So all these 25 years later it turned out to have been all worthwhile :har:

TIME ZONE ISSUES

https://i.imgur.com/44LQFbw.jpeg

It's long been a problem that the game can't be played by everyone (including me) right around the clock because we all need to sleep, so there've always been concerns that some players will get less whacking time than others because of 'dead spots'

So I've looked at the times when players might be around to access the most play and have found the following:- for Australia (AEST) 16:00-19:00 and then 07:00-09:00 are the best times; then for Eastern US players local time 06:00-19:00, then for Western US players it's local time 06:00-16:00. On the back of this, I'll usually be around to do my part in UK from 07:00-00:00 midnight BST

Thanks Big E. You put a lot of work into W.A.S......and it's appreciated by your brothers in Terra Australis.

Is that the clock you use to work out the Time Zones ????

Eichhörnchen 04-24-25 03:15 AM

^ Yeah, it's my secret clock :salute:

So says Vinny - and never one to ignore my pals I can announce plans for a "titanic squirrel conflict" just like in the old days (only change might be the inclusion of "Spot The Squirrel" for BIG bonus points, which we practiced for last year and at which Vinny excelled)

The theme will be a celebration of my Welsh roots, with all the things associated with the land of my fathers (which I visited once) - a kind of "Eisteddfod With Clubs" if you like: leeks, daffodils, mountains, Harry Secombe, Ivor The Engine, you name it - if it's Welsh we'll have it. The main thing is it won't require ANY BRAINPOWER to play, just a fast hand on the whacker to get those squirrels. As I said, just like the old days

"Gweld chi wedyn, ynte?" (See you then, isn't it?)
