...and I might add, you've definately raised the modelling standard around here.:) So how are you going to display this? I hope you have a sealed case for it so the dust can't get on it. Plus, I hope you don't have kids you need to defend your model from.:dead:

Siara 08-03-08 03:08 AM

I just ordered the glass case for it. Boyfriend of the work pal has the glass shop, and promissed me to make the case for 60£. When i asked at the other shop, the perspex case was 140£.:o
The case will rest on mahogany plank. So it will be protected from elements well.
And no, no kids yet- none i know of anyway.:hmm:

As to the cost, i stoped tracking the spendings long ago, but my estimation is around 600£ at the moment.

Edit:
Tamiya white primer picked all the imperfections- being corrected now.

The glass is made from cigarette lighters. Not glued in yet- will be painted silver on the back, and fixed in after the CT get some paint on.

Siara, I have to tell you that I have been following this thread almost since the begining.
That, Sir, is one hell of the work you've done so far!
I spent pretty much 15 years modelling myself but my skills are nowhere close to yours.

Your resourcefullness and dedication definitely take modelling into totally different level.

Keep up the great work!

BTW If I saw closeup of the picture in post #443 not knowing it is a model I'd swear that I am looking at the real sub. Wow!

Siara 08-07-08 06:20 PM

Thank you Conus00.

Rivets look great! I love the way the wheel pushes the plastic out, so you have flared edges around the hole, which looks just like a real rivet!

Siara 08-09-08 06:17 PM

Thanks Steve!
I like the way it turned out too.

I finished the rest of the railings, and steps. It took me all day, but i think it was worth the effort.
