Does it always do that KaleunMarco? Have you tried exiting the game, doing the XXIII, Saving and trying a reload that way? I am experiencing similar with FotRSU, where if I attempt to do too many "tests" in either the Campaign or Single Missions, I will eventually run out of memory, in spite of my computer having plenty of resources left. The game just does not manage its internal memory very well apparently... If you are testing something "critical", it is advised to exit the game, then re-enter and test so that you are certain you are getting accurate results. These two mods (OM w/Fifi and FotRSU) are quite large... :salute:

i've reloaded the saved mission about every which way one can.:D
i am going to reboot now and see if that makes a difference. More to come...... |
The type XXIII is the only one i didn’t touch at all!
It is still stock OM, without any enhancements...that’s why i never play this one :D If one day i’m Asked to upgrade to this boat, i’ll Refuse!! :haha: Don’t think many people will play that one too :yep: Probably not necessary to loose much time with it? :06: |

After the usuals tests tomorrow, if all goes well, i will release them in update 8 (with others stuff) :yeah: This way, no more Update 7 Patch Fix needed, we will go on with traditional Update 8 in place of others. |

while i was attacking a Baltic ship, i was counterattacked by a sinking DD/DE. i swear i did not cause any damage to the escort yet look at the poor devil's waterline. i can send you the actual jpg if you want it.

Type 2D accepts a new Turm loses Sensor Room
playing the Baltic theatre in a 2D.
returned from a mission and was awarded a new Turm. had to take it...no option to refuse. when i fired up the next mission, my first order received a reply of "Cannot Comply". WTF. where did that some from? so i returned to the in-port-refit Savefile and discovered that the new Turm erased my Sensor Room. well.. it did and it didn't. keep reading. here are the After and Before screenprints. https://i.ibb.co/Wnjdgm6/Picture0027-newturm.jpg https://i.ibb.co/N6RtNxh/SH4-Img-201...-02-02-590.png i looked at the new Turm version of the ActiveUserPlayerUnits.UPC and Compartment 3 is still there and, in truth, it does not look any different from the previous Compartment 3 with "old" Turm.:timeout: [UserPlayerUnit 1.Compartment 3]

:hmmm: Is that before or after the IID turm issue? Are you still doing the IID career? The Turms are in the Objects folder, along with sim and other assorted files. I do not remember how the Stock turm upgrades on the Pacific side go... do you happen to remember? It seems to me that you should be asked if you want to accept... The radio room is in the turm, so... :hmmm:

If so, it’s normal...there is only one representation of sub per type (1 for II, 1 for VII etc) :yep: - About the compartment 3 not visible...i don’t know! - About the « can’t comply the order » after the upgrading, it seems you have run in a known old OM bug ... Below is what i found in Surviving OM career thread to solve this bug. From SKIDMAN: « Both the Typ VII and the Typ IX U-Boat will receive conning tower upgrades as the game proceeds. Every time I was awarded a new "Turm", the result was a submarine that could not move forward, or backward. A "Cannot comply" message was displayed instead. The crew screen showed missing and empty slots. This bug has been experienced and described before, and -as lurker put it- it is a nasty one. So from my experience a conning tower upgrade means end of your career. This is not acceptable. How can you continue? Well, there is a workaround: You have to create a dummy file. 1.) Open your saved games folder (SH4/data/cfg/SavedGames), locate the folder that contains the autosave_on_leaving_base-file using the file creation date and time and make a backup copy. 2.) Fire up SH4 and start a new career. Choose date, type of boat and flotilla to match the state of your career as close as possible. Start a new mission. Save the game. 3.) From the new folder (the one you just created in the saved games folder when you saved the dummy game ) you will need the ActiveUserPlayerUnits-file. Copy it to the desktop and open the copied file using a text editor (i.e. wordpad) 4.) Open the ActiveUserPlayerUnits-file from the autosave_on_leaving_base-folder (Step 1) with your text editor 5.) In the AUPU-File from the dummy locate: [UserPlayerUnit 1.Compartment 1. CrewMemberSlot 1] copy this line and the following lines till [UserPlayerUnit 1.UnitPartSlot 1.UnitPart . UpgradePackSlot 1] near the end of the document. 6.) Replace the lines (Step5) with the content of the clipboard in the AUPU-File from the autosave_on_leaving_base-folder. Save the file. 7.) Copy the manipulated file to the UPCINitial Folder of the autosave_on_leaving_base-folder. 8.) Fire up SH4, choose "Load Game", open the autosave_on_leaving_base-File and play on. Your rank, medals, tons sunk and crew will be preserved and your boat will have the new conning tower. Sounds complicated, but OM forces you to go through this again and again and practice makes perfect » Now if our friend Propbeanie has some time to look into the compartment 3 (radio) missing on crew management page ...and why we can’t refuse any new turm...it would be more than welcome :yeah: :D |
My thought is that the fact that the player does not get the choice dialog of "Do you want to accept the upgrade?" is the main symptom. I cannot remember for sure for certain at this time, but it seems to me that on the US side of things, that a player does get asked the question "do you want the new turm (conning tower)?". The "cannot comply" is because parts of the boat are now "missing" in its configuration.
KaleunMarco, which picture is which boat above? Is that the IID with the new turm up top, or the IID with the old turm up top? I ask because my old eyes cannot read the text on the screen grabs you have... sorry... - I'm guessing it's the new turm in the top picture above? :salute: |

notice the lack of Radio Room when compared to the lower screen which is BEFORE the change. please note that i did NOT have any personnel on station in the Conning Tower before the change. only the Radio Room went MIA. literally. slight change of tack here..... PB, i remember doing some test work with you late-last-year-early-this-year in OpM that involved equipment option decisions. i believe it was in the Murmansk campaign. i cannot find my notes. do you remember any of that work? which files were we manipulating to change the upgrade-decision options? as i remember, we were able to fix one or more decision trees and actually fix something.:timeout: |
Oh golly... [digs through paper on the desk and computer folders] :hmmm: [panic] - the fog of war has left me corn-fused... :timeout: :o - I are lost in a sea of "too much information" lately, and cannot pull the details from the recesses of the grey matter... my brain is back in grade school, on recess... :arrgh!: - that was the turm AA guns, wasn't it?... or was it the radar detector??... the dates were overlapping... maybe... :timeout: :hmmm: :salute:

unfortunately, it did not work. i performed the create-a-new-career-copy-paste-into-bad-game twice. the game is being obstinate. what can i say? (rhetorical american idiom) |
:hmmm: A clue! A clue! :hmmm: - but what does it mean, monsieur??...
You not getting a "new" career with your old stats, while in a IID with the new turm should not be... perhaps date the career one day later?... You are supposed to get the new turm "1941-01-01"... what date was it? :salute: |

There should not be a problem building a new career and copying over the new data then... :hmmm: If you start a new career after January 1, 1941 in a IID, you should get the proper turm... I'll dig some into this when an upload of mine is finished... :salute:
