First off, I must say the Mod looks great:up:

However, I can't seem to get it to work. I installed it to my mods folder, enabled it, but when I try to load my campaign, the game crashes to the desktop. I did download the appropriate version for GWX.

My only thought is that I accidently tried putting the data folder inside my SH3 data folder. I canceled it, and restored it to a copy I made before installing the mod. I then installed it correctly, along with the SH3Commander files, and it still doesn't work :damn:

Any ideas?

I'll give that a shot, but would the Sea folder have any bearing in the Training missions? I was able to load up the Torpedo Training without any problems :-?

Sigurd 01-07-08 11:23 AM

Makes sense. I deleted the Sea folder (then realised I should have disabled the mod first, so I disabled and re-enabled the mod), and launched SH3 again and tried to start my campaign.

Same thing, gets about 9/10 of the way there, then the "SH3 has encountered an error and must close" box. :damn:

Since you mention you made mistakes on more than one occasion when disabling mods in JSGME I suggest you reinstall SH3/patch/GWX/etc. fresh. More likely than not your current install is corrupted. I had it myself last november. Re-installing is alot easier than figuring out what files are wrong. Just make sure you pay attention to what you're doing when using JSGME and SHCommander. And make sure you have the latest verison of it (JSGME) aswell.

Lovely. I dont have the files for GWX anymore, and the computer that I'm running SH3 on doesn't have Internet (currently on my parents computer).

Plus I have the Direct2Drive version, which I think needs an internet activation, so I'm stuck unless someone else has a way to fix this.

I'm going to go try running GWX without the GUI activated, to see if its just the GUI, or if my install itself is broken.

Sigurd 01-07-08 12:21 PM

My main install is dead :damn: :damn: :damn:

Alright, time to go figure out how to get the game working again. Looks like I get to wheel my computer on in here to get the internet on it.

But at least this way I have an excuse to update to GWX 2.0 *shrug*

OLC, just wondering: when you release an update which is fully compatible with GWX2.0, will you still put in double mast values? Because I kinds like having the real values in the recognitionbook and doubling the values myself. Was just wondering.

Turm 01-08-08 05:03 PM

If there is an update I'm sure you can just delete the "Sea" folder to ensure the original mast values all remain, just like you did to get this version working :yep:

I find that I like it this way too, so I shall do the same. I already keep notes whilst playing, such as writing a ship's course or speed after I calculate it, so it's no trouble to work out the double mast value in my head, and note it down if needed.

1st post updated with GWX2-compatible version - thanks to cuervo111 for saving me a ton of time! :D I'm done here.

BTW I tried to get a decent night filter but couldn't get it right and didn't want to spend too much time on it, so sorry for not delivering on that. Maybe one for TBW?

Yeah, you're right about that, hadn't thought about it, but makes perfect sense. Thanks!

Thanks OLC. Am I correct in thinking that the GWX 2.0 version is no different to the previous version except for the corrected 'sea' folder? If so, I won't worry about updating it (as I prefer the original mast heights as above). [Edit: Nevermind, I just spotted your other thread where you confirm this!]

Still, one more chance to thank you for all the efforts on the original mod! I simply can't imagine playing without it now. Nevermind all the fancy dials and rings for calculating torpedo shots (which I do use in full); I think I actually enjoy the new observation scope the most - it alone makes the game feel so much better :D

Actually, whilst on that subject, is there a quick/easy way for me to get the recognition manual to carry over to the obs scope? The zoom on the attack scope is less (well, I know it's the same at 6x, but as the scope window is smaller the ships are physically smaller on the screen) so I tend to switch back and forth between the two scopes when trying to ID ships at medium ranges and above. I'll probably give it a go if you say it's achievable without too much work.

Just upgraded to your latest release!

Thanks onelifecrisis! :)

Will be starting my new GWX2.0 career veeeery very soon! :D
