What a shock. Me and my kid just watched the Wiggles with the Crocodile Hunter this morning. He gave alot to the world with his love of animals, and his devotion to share it with so many people. God rest his soul.

Just to give you an example of what even a small stingray can do, view the clip Kid Gets Stung by Sting Ray. Nothing but a flesh wound but you can imagine how lethal a full sized ray could be.

A sad, shocking and unexpected loss to our nation. He did wonders for the tourist trade and the environment in our country. He reached a new audience when it came to the environment and wildlife. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, in particular his wife and young children.

We should all be so lucky to die doing something we love. Sure he made his share of mistakes...

... but every one of us lives in a glass house and shouldn't throw rocks.

Rest in peace Steve'O...

Sad that a respected risk taker should have debauched himself in risking his infant by teasing a croc with it.

I will try to remember the kind and sentimental claptrap above the next time I hang an infant over a balcony by its feet ! ;)

I think he just wanted people to not be so afraid of animals the way they are. All these movies these days make these animals look like cold blooded killers yet in reality that is not so. He used his own child as an experiment (this was wrong of him he even admitted) but he did it for the benefit of the world. He just didn't want people to fear animals so much but to respect them for what they are. The fact is is that you should be more afraid of that hot sexy looking woman that works in your office than a croc. People are the deadliest animals on earth and we also have the deadliest bite.

The bacterial inoculum of human bite wounds is rich in oral flora, as saliva contains as many as 100,000,000 organisms per mL, representing as many as 190 different species

I will start off by saying right off the bat that I have never liked Steve Irwin. To me he was a wingnut who exploited animals for his own personal fame and wealth.

There was never any doubt in my mind that he was going to get killed eventually, just surprised at what finally got him.

The worst part is that now he has other people imitating him,so we should expect a few more deaths over the coming years from these morons pushing their luck too far.

Even Jaques Cousteau's grandson (Who's name I can't recall) is doing idiotic stuff like riding the dorsal fin of a Great White.

What a week. First Steve Irwin, now news just in, reports that Aussie racing legend Peter Brock has died in a rally accident........ I think I'll just stay indoors.

okay, it's neither the time nor the place to debate such things, but what did he do with that wealth, he purchased HUGE chunks of land that he preserved as nature sancturaries, in Australia and abroad.

I'll leave it at that.
