Johnfb, what mod are you using for crew? I can see on that picture you shared that you have the damage control officer "mounted" in place of sonar guy, how did you do that? Do you also have some command shortcuts related to him?

And your sarcasic response tells me you are a child... KH |
No, I am not a child, just acting like one.
I didnt meant to be sarcastic (this time only), I was enjoying the language-humour. What you said translated trough my language (and my mind) sounded very funny. Actually I thought you were being sarcastic, and I liked it so much that I started looking for your other posts, wich led me to your very interesting almost-novel comment about inexperienced seamen in your father's ship which sunk, and I was thinking "respect" for the way you told a personal story to underline a fact about wartime POs and seamen. As you can see, I meant no offense, on the contrary :).. But, since english is not my native tongue, my way of expressing myself is not always clear to many, i already noticed that. i'm translating everything form hungarian, and that is a tottally other structure of language. On a side note: i start form the presumtion that everybody, who is spending whole nights on forums then playing hours with a game like SH3 (everybody like me), MUST BE sarcastic, ironic and every other *ic, because otherwise we would not survive this world. I speak firstly for myself, but I like to think that there are others like me out there. |

@ Phyrrus,
The nuances I thought I saw in your writing made me assume you had an axe to grind - my misunderstanding. I have a 'who cares so much, it's only a game' approach to the technical aspects ofl SH3 but the historical side of the U-Boat war is very much in my mind - hence why I don't use mods that giive me Ubercrew or ahistorical advantages. I like the "I didnt meant to be sarcastic (this time only)". That tickled me...:arrgh!: KH |

OK back to topic: if this would be so on my pc, i would reinstall my game and delete all savegames. Not the famous way but it works. I installed SH3 acouple of times. Than i had the idea of installing, patching, mount the no DVD fix and copying the folder to backup. So every time i need to reinstall i copy the folder with stock SH3 inside to the destination, install my mods and start to play. Those 2,44GB on hdd saves a lot of time. |
Hi again guys, I've been off for a couple of days, back now for a while.
Kielhauler, no hard feelings, right? Alles gute :) You'are right, this is a simulator, so we should at least TRY to simulate real conditions, but still consider it a game that serves as entertainment, this is my approach too. If simulation becomes frustration, then I loosen it a bit, unitl it is still challenging, but entertaining. Paulebaer, you are saying that you reinstall al the time. For me, in the moment I reported the above weather-problem, I had a totally fresh install. I really dont see how a reinstall woudl work for me, since it was fresh - but i guess I'll have to do it. I noticed that I dont have any clouds at all, under no weather conditions... How are you peopl today? :) |
@ Phyrrus,
No worries. I'm not sure how I am today. I'm having a bit of a problem with an ASW trawler off the East coast of England. I can't sink it (no torpedoes left) and it won't leave me alone...:wah: Im driving a Type II and our 2cm flak pop-gun is no match for the 12 pdr the trawler has. Being 'more aggressive' is not an option - being more cowardly is more attractive. KH |
Well yes, that is a bit of a problem, been there myself. In this cases saving my crew from death (wich can have many forms in this tub) becomes my biggest concern, and nobody on the sub considers me a coward for trying to save their lives. They just want AIR again. (Well, except for Wolfgang Eisenholz, my torpedo officer, who's always so determined to die for the Fürher and Fatherland, than he always rushes us into hopeless situations - I think he only wants a badge, I'll give him one)
Truth is that I fell asleep on my last night command, was so tired that couldnt see through the periscope anymore, so I have to restart my last patrol. See, Kielhauler, this is one of the situations when a bit of a tewak comes in handy. I modded my VIIB to have 2 extra reserves, and I dont touch them ONLY when is about life and death. - And there is alyways about life and death, ehheehe :) |
