Many thanks for the kind and supportive words everyone.

It was hard coming in from work to an empty house but they say time is a good healer.

@Jason....The wife is adamant she doesn't want another and I can honestly say I support her on that because neither of us need revisiting the heartache again in the future.

Time is a great healer. You and your wife will know when it is time to get another little demon puppy to terrorize your house and find its way into your heart. :sunny:

My sister lost their two Border Collies 10 days apart(one to old age, another to a heart condition very suddenly) and had two more Border Collie pups within a week.

After we put our last dog down in 2005, it took almost two years before we were ready for another.

Everybody is different.

:)

True. When my sister's dog passed on they swore they would never be able to have another one. It took about a year, and when they started looking at the local adoption centers the perfect dog for them was right there. He had been waiting for a home for over six months and the people working at the center were actually taking turns taking him home to "foster" him until someone wanted him. They said they couldn't figure out why such a great dog hadn't found a home. We figured it was because the universe knew he belonged in my sister's house. They will never forget the doggie they lost, but they love the new boy to pieces.

You just never know.

But naturally, Jim, you'll all need time to grieve the loss and if/when the time comes you'll know.

I've been there and know the feelings. It took six years before we were ready for another cat after losing three in the space of a year. Those were the last indoor/outdoor cats for us since all three died outside and one was possibly poisoned.

But we did get two more that had been abandoned, and took in a third stray seven years after that. The funny thing is I find losing pets harder to take than losing family members.

That's normal after a terrible loss, but I bet in time the Jimbuna family will open their hearts and home to another pet that needs them.

Jim, I'm so sorry to hear this.
I'm still tore up and missing Storm myself so I know there's not much I can say except I share your pain.
:wah:

Sorry to hear this Jim. I know how you're feeling. We had to put our 2 Peek-a-poos down this past October. Both were 15 years old and were having major problems too. Hated to do it and I miss them both. At least the 2 cats take up some of the slack, but it's not the same without Brandy and Charlie sitting next to me on the couch, or on the bed with us at night. They were our two 4 legged little kids.

Sad to hear of your loss Jim. Hope Mrs Buna isn't too upset?

She's actually bearing up better than I am but the upset is starting to subside a bit now.
