Hi Dowly, sorry about the bad news, hope you feel better soon.
He looked like he was quite a character.
May he rest in peace.

Sorry for your loss. My pop would be the same age.

Dowly 01-18-13 02:20 PM

Grandpa was laid to rest today, next to his parents and his daughter.

Ceremony was nice, relatives and closest friends were present.

One of his oldest friend from Sweden came all the way here to take part
and at my grandpa's grave he only whispered "Kamrat".

EDIT: Oh and my grandpa was in the bandy team that won the national championship
in '53 or '54, one of his old teammates attended. :salute:

Oberon 01-18-13 02:35 PM

God bless him, and his friend from Sweden for being able to attend. Glad that he had a good send off. :salute:

Sorry to hear that, Dowly.

It makes me think that someday we will all have to face it :(

I'm sorry for loss

Osanottoni.

As someone with a granddad I really like and look up to I can feel some of your pain (the rest of the sorrow comes if and when my granddad dies before me).

Your loss reminds me of the pain I and the rest of us lucky enough to have important close ones will all one day feel.

Someone brought some old photos of grandpa to the funeral, this one I had never seen before. Thought it was a great photo of him. :yep:
At work, he was a machinist/welder.

Years from that, Summer 2012, he is repainting the ornaments at our summer house he made for the front door in the 70s at work.

Just saw this today. My sincerest condolences Dowly, to you and your whole family.

Grandpas are the wisest one we learned from as kids. His wisdom was like no others and was looked upon as the one who made things alright when we had problems. It seemed he always knew what to do and say, where other's didn't or couldn't. To this day I wish mine was still around.

R.I.P Grandpa. :salute:

Well said GT182. :yep:

Those are lovely pics Dowly, it takes some skill to be able to fashion metal to your will, even with the machines of the modern age. He looks like someone who enjoyed making and tinkering with things. :yep:
