So if a Tory is a plonker, then is a labo(u)r a flea-bagger?

Maybe I'll just stick with US politics.

Guide to the big three...

Conservative Party known as the Torries, the party of the upper class toffs who want the upper class and middle class vote who believe in privatising everything.

Labour Party known as the working man's party and now back in the hands of the fat cat unions right Ed, stronghold is Northern Britain for the flat cap vote of the working man who eats black pudding.

Liberal Party known as the lost party who come up with wild and wacky ideas to get everyone to vote for them and in a hung parliament gladly stab there voters in the back.

agreed.

In America, 'Liberal' is a dirty word. If you say im a 'liberal' in the US you can expect ridicule.
In the UK 'Conservative' is dirty word. If you say im a 'conservative' in the UK you can expect ridicule.

Limeys and Yanks are very different (considering how well we seem to get along) :DL.

I'm north-ish (not that Jim would agree), I don't have a whippet or a flat cap but I do like black pudding (not that my doctor would agree) and I don't vote Red! And I thought, according to programs like Location, Location, Location that all the rich barstewards with money moved from darn saarf up to the Lakes/Northumberland/Scotland? :hmmm:

Still sounds better than the american 2 party monopoly.

At least with parliamentiary system you (voters) can "give the other side a go" without large scale obstruction and fillibusters.

Tribesman 10-11-11 04:44 PM

This story just keeps on giving.
So Fox said to parliament this was all just chance encounters, nothing really crossed the boundaries of politics and private business and no national issues were involved......yet his friend booked into the international defence conference giving the Houses of Parliament as his address and assistant to the secratary of defence as his personal details, and the booking was made by a private company run by Fox.

Have they ever thought of running for office in Ireland, they would fit right in and it is a european destination of choice for dodgy backdoor arms dealers.

Herr-Berbunch 10-11-11 04:49 PM

Can two parties be a monopoly? :hmmm:

:O:

Or how about a monoploy party?

soopaman2 10-11-11 04:57 PM

Is a plonker the same as a drongo? Got an Aussie/American buddy who uses that alot, mostly about bankers and Obama.

I am truly intrigued by British perjoratives. Like how bloody replaces the "f" word perfectly.

Once again we have what I like to describe as 'within the rules, but not in the spirit of the rules' thinking.
Get shot of fox - I know a few blokes with dogs, horses and red coats who'd gladly oblige, just for old times sake you understand.
