Sad to say I did not see them run up the engines. It was looking like rain and did it rain. My daughters and I made it to our car just as it hit. She is a beautiful bomber.

She is very loud and lumbers down the runway. She used just about all of it in the takeoff run. It was great to see one actually fly. I have seen the Enola Gay at the Hazy museum. Not quite the same as she sit silently with the other aircraft. Not sure if flying her again is a good thing. I can say that all walks of life were taking plenty of pictures of her.

Steve,

I went through my pictures and this one my daughter had taken the same day. Much closer and can read more names/squadrons. Can see Pappy's wingman signature!

Did someone call me?:O:

AVGWarhawk 06-07-11 11:50 AM

Yea..they were all:

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...Weekend107.jpg

then they were like:

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...Weekend110.jpg

And the British were like:

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...end2010008.jpg

and the USA was like:

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...end2010013.jpg

meahwhile the Germans thought it was in the bag...

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...end2010001.jpg

But us Allies decoded everything...

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...end2010025.jpg

Then the USA rolled in with this

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...end2010054.jpg

and some of these:

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...end2010059.jpg

It was a group effort:

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...end2010072.jpg

The Germans fought back...even with their school buses!

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...end2010111.jpg

The Allies prevailed and we all began wearing silly hats and shirts with total disregard for anything.

AVGWarhawk 06-15-11 11:22 AM

Yes, and his nose tackle on the left.

CCIP 06-15-11 11:52 AM

Awesome posts!

I believe I'll be seeing the same Lancaster (and possibly some of these other planes too) at the very warbird-oriented airshow here this weekend. Mind if I also post my pictures here instead of making a different thread, since it's kind of similar thime? :D

AVGWarhawk 06-15-11 11:59 AM

Please do CCIP. I would love to see the aircraft you will be seeing at the event you are attending! :yeah:

CCIP 06-19-11 07:40 PM

Bump!

Nothing overly fancy, but I'll start off with a few I got this weekend at the Hamilton Airshow that was squarely focused on warbirds this year!

In honour of the anniversary of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, they had a whole 8 flying Harvards (the Canadian designation for AT-6 Texan) flying this year...
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h08.jpg

Fairey Firefly. Doesn't it look just like an oversized Spitfire?
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h12.jpg

deHavilland Chipmunk. One of the many Commonwealth Training planes present...
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h13.jpg

Beech 18 and DC-3
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h14.jpg

Lovely flying PBY
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h15.jpg

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h17.jpg

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h16.jpg

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h20.jpg

C-47
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h27.jpg

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h32.jpg

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h28.jpg

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h29.jpg

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...pb2006/h30.jpg

And on the other side of it, probably the star of this particular show, the only flying Lancaster on this side of the world!
