looks like aviation will be relegated to part time instructing when able and hobby flying (which is more fun anyhow)

I will be working catastrophic insurance claims - and there is no shortage of those in the USA right now.

as you may be aware, there have been a lot of weather events this spring.

Texas has had wild fires and hail storms covering a large percentage of the state.

The southeast has experienced catastrophic flooding.

The Central US has experienced severe tornadoes.

Currently the company is extended to the max with personnel conducting investigations and insurance adjusting throughout most of the country.

The main Con: it is outdoor work frequently conducted during the hottest months of the year.

The main Pro: when deployed on a job, personal earnings after tax can exceed $1,000 per day with many deployments lasting anywhere from 1 to 6 months, so an entire years income can be attained in a matter of just a few months.

I have not heard of any of these catastrophic events. :hmmm:

Arkansas received severe hail damage to hundreds of thousands of homes and properties throughout the state.

Texas received severe hail damage to hundreds of thousands of homes and properties throughout the Dallas/Ft-Worth Area and points east of there meanwhile amid drought conditions, wildfires blaze across West Texas.

Tornadoes throughout the southern United States have so far killed upwards of 350 people and caused approximately 5.5 billion dollars in property damage.

Flood waters are on the rise in Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Sounds like you found a job that's easier, more safe (in terms of personal and economic safety) and last not least pays more. I only hope you have a thick skin, as you likely will be confronted with many personal fates, so don't take too much home from work!
