personally, i put the game down a few weeks ago. It seems there are just too many things being worked on in the pipeline that I want in my game, so i'm waiting for those areas to be complete. In the long run, SH5 has great potential and will supercede a lot that has been done in GWX. Not all of it, but a lot.

Oh come on, you left the door open for that one. How could i resist? :O:

So American subs were u-boats during the American Revolutionary War :O:?

On the other hand, since "untersee" means underwater, and "submarine" means underwater... :sunny:

I played GWX a lot back then, but a few days a go i checked subsim and got to the news, mods etc that has been made and for me its now SH5 definitely! More realistic, more immersing etc. I cant't judge all aspects like AI since i played not so much that i can compare but all the major arcade elements are gone + a lot more realism has been added so icant complain right now :)

What about the campaign?
I still have the feeling its my like "Wing Commander" mission after mission instead of a real "War at Sea" were I can take part where ever I want.

For those worried about giving any money to Ubisoft purchasing SH5, don't. Amazon list it now for $4.60 USD.

No. SH2 was like that, and SH3 almost ended up that way until the Great Mutiny happened. SH5 does have specific goals, but anyone will tell you you don't have to do them all at once, and you don't have to do them at all if you don't want to. I'm certainly no expert, but from what I've heard you can play the game exactly the same as SH3 and SH4, at least as far as the campaign is concerned.

Correct.

This is correct. Apparently, not completing the objectives will have some effect on the direction of the dynamic campaign, but there's no GAME OVER or anything if you ignore the missions.

However, I think you might need to complete missions, or at least sink ships that give credit toward missions, to earn promotion points for your crew. It's easy though to earn points for doing the easy merchant tonnage missions and doesn't take long to max out the most important crew skills.
