It's pretty simple at the moment, just yours

GWX 3 Wilhemshafen,St Naz,Schluese and xtra ships V6
Aces' Super Pens v4 GWX3 Version

I hope that's the right mods in the right order! I've tried it with some GWX mods enabled as well, either before or after. Either way that produces a CTD before the main GUI loads. With your mod on its own I can get to the main GUI, but when I try to load a career the game freezes on the loading screen about 80-90% up the progress bar.

No, no, no ! Itīs not the correct order !!!

Try this:

1.) A "clean" SH3 1.4b Installation
2.) GWX 3.0 + maybe Additional MODs FOR GWX that comes with GWX if you want
3.) GWX 3 Wilhemshafen,St Naz,Schluese and xtra ships V6
4.) WAC4.1 SubPen_animated_18.02.2010
5.) Aces' Super Pens v4 GWX3 Version

Thatīs the correct order.

And then + 4GB Patch and modded Boot.ini.

Thatīs it !

Well I feel sheepish.....I actually got iambecomelife's Merchant Fleet mod (the full version-another great mod) working today on my system and it's all running like a dream, so I'm happy now I know it's my error and not my system. I had done 1) and 2) OK but reversed 3) and 4). Now I wonder if I can get that mod and the Super Pens working together? Any thoughts? They both introduce new ships, is that an issue? I promise I'll stop asking questions and start playing the game soon :) I can't get over the amount of new content that has arrived since I last played this sim.

Please excuse the double post, but I thought I should add a postcript. I reinstalled my mods in the correct order and .........CTD before the main gui appeared. Aaaaaaagh!!! Out of curiosity I tried with just GWX 3 Wilhemshafen,St Naz,Schluese and xtra ships V6 and WAC4.1 SubPen_animated_18.02.2010 and it loaded fine (albeit slowly). So I now have access to the nice content in those mods, but sadly can't use yours, Aces. I did download another copy of the mod just in case the first one got corrupted but the result was the same. Never mind, thanks for trying to sort it out anyway.

Hi mate,

Can you let me know how you applied the /3gb patch please. I don't understand why you are having these problems as others with Windows XP 4 Gb RAM and the patch can run them. I'll try and help if I can, my mods list is much larger than the one you are running. Yes, it's slow to load but everything works.

I have only 2GB of memory with XP Nvidia 2x 8800GT with about 20 other mods running and i don't seem to have any problems with CTD

So i am not sure why other people are having this problem

Thanks for the offer of further help. This is what I did.

1. Changed my boot.ini so it looked like this

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn /3GB /USERVA=2990

2. Loaded the mods in the correct order (as set out in Magic1111's previous post).

3. Unpacked EditBin.7z to a temp directory.

4. Moved my sh3.exe file to that directory and ran the batch file.

5. Moved my sh3.exe back.

Dave, as I understand it, the 3 Gb patch fixes a problem with virtual address space that is unconnected with the amount of physical or virtual memory you have. I read somewhere that PCs with large amounts of video memory can suffer worse than those with less. I found an post that helped me understand the problem a bit better here (different game forum, but same problem). I have at least learned something from having this problem, I'd never even heard of it before I tried to get this mod working.

Add to that the plethora of hardware and software combos.........I have seen people with much better systems than mine struggling with things my computer runs easily

Hi mate,

Very curious, you seem to have done everything correctly. Just one thought you are running the GWX version and not the WAC version of the mod?.

Otherwise I'm at a loss as to what the problem is. If I have any thoughts I'll gladly post them here. Thanks for trying the mod and good luck.

I really appreciate the time you've given this, Aces. Yes I am running the GWX version. Bit of a mystery, but never mind, I'm off for a career in the Med next. Perhaps we can get a later version working if you do one.
