Had ourselves a real proper snowstorm today! It was terrific!

In the morning. Nothing special just yet, but those clouds looks menacing...

Couple of hours later. You can just about see the tramstation on the other side in the left background. It was incredible. You could barely see a thing! And the footprints you left were gone in minutes! (That's Martin, a good friend of mine and a classmate on the picture btw).

And just for the sake of it, here I am:

This picture might give you a better idea about the heavy snowfall...

Most we've had here is sleet. Which predictably showed up while I was outside :damn: The snow, if it arrives, is forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning...probably when I'm heading out for work  Still, once I've got my full Siberian gear on (see sig) I'll be snug :rock:And work is always bloody hot, so I'll defrost there.
I think the worst of it will be inland as usual, we'll be lucky to see an inch of it. :nope:

I was at my girlfriends place so no survival training needed this time.:DL

Be careful what you wish for. You just may get it.

Raptor1 12-17-09 02:14 PM

Because they are clearly stealing all our snow...

I'll check if I have any decent snow pictures from Poland (Yeah, I know, that's cheating), I got caught in a really nice snowstorm in Łódź.

Oberon 12-17-09 04:10 PM

Ok, Raptor...stop it with that damn weather control device of yours! Had a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder about an hour ago, it's sleeting/snowing, blowing a gale and the lights are flickering... :hmmm:

Business as usual for the East Anglian coastal winter

Task Force 12-17-09 04:12 PM

Raptor. please send snow to US east cost... AND NO I don't want a nuclear winter...

Ill consider coming out of my bunker...

Raptor1 12-17-09 04:13 PM

If I was in control of the weather control device, the first place to get some decent weather is right here...

FIREWALL 12-17-09 04:15 PM

After seeing all the pics  I'm going to have to take my Hummer for a run up to Big Bear.

I love living in a area where I can go surfing in the morning and snowboarding the same afternoon. :D

Task Force 12-17-09 04:15 PM

Then who has it...:hmmm:

I do.

Task Force 12-17-09 04:22 PM

Give... so I can freeze Hunter... lol

Takeda Shingen 12-17-09 05:29 PM

It's supposed to snow here tomorrow into Saturday. If it looks sufficient, I'll take some snaps of my house and post them, provided they don't look too meager next to you Scandanavians and your real winter.

haz 12-17-09 05:35 PM

You can all the snow and cold we have here free of charge..

KeptinCranky 12-17-09 08:42 PM

I don't mind a bit of snow... it being rare I usually enjoy it, :DL

But today I wanted to visit Amsterdam to see an Opera for the first time, and the hell-damned trains stopped running altogether for oh, I don't know, 5 cm of snow....:nope: this happens every time the first snow falls...

It's ridiculous, I spent 3 hours to traval 30km by train... just barely made it in time and had to miss out on the dinner arrangement because of this...:damn:
Hell I hear that In places like Norway the trains only get slowed down if there's 2 meters of snow....

And tomorrow I'm going to have to go to work by train, joy of joys... not that that's a big issue, I'd rather miss work than an opera I paid good money to see..

thankfully I did enjoy the opera and maybe, if the snow lasts until the weekend I might appreciate it as well. :-?

sorry to snow on your parade, just had to get that off my chest....

</rant>

Arclight 12-17-09 09:00 PM

Sorry to hear about the setback, but yeah, leave it to the Dutch railways to panic when there's a snowflake or leaf on the tracks.

What opera?

I must say all this seems a bit weird to me.

I mean in my city, lot of people (me included) are sick and tired of snow/winter and you guys seem to beg for it...:-?

The only cool thing is that we have a white Christmas.

Once Christmas time is over I want summer back... but have to wait at least 3 more months! :wah::wah::wah:

I would swap anytime some sunshine for these... (taken in march 2008)

If we got that much snow, I'd be sick of it too. :yep:

But around here it's fairly rare; a little might fall every winter, but it rarely remains for a week or more. Usually it's all slush by the end of the day.
