hrm... a "well-known subsim action game" Cripes it wouldn't be something waaaay out in left field like Subwar 2050?? No... that wouldn't meet the "well-known" criteria, methinks. :hmm: |
The Sims: CSS Hunley
 |
Too early for SH5 if you ask me.
|
Mr Stevens...
Could you please give us a rough timeline for when you will be able to spill the juicy gossip please? You know, 1 week, 1 month.... 1 HOUR!!! ;) Elphaba |
It must be a v2 because otherwise it wouldn't be called a 'sequel', now would it? :arrgh!:
Anyway, I'm too young a sailor to know all the previous sims so ... I'll just read all the titles you can come up with. |
DAS Boot - the game !!! (SH5 - Kriegsmarine)!!!
No : underwater Doom 4, scuba Hruschov, Lincoln flotila,......Diving pericope ninja turtles! |

Premises: sequel = continuation. We can asume it had no continuation before this one, as there is no mention to a saga or franchise well-known = widely known. No obscure, low selling game action = not strictly sim veteran dev-team = experienced, already long time in the business. Deductions: 1) Submarine games with no sequel: iron wolves silent steel wolf pack ssn-21 seawolf clancy's ssn Uboat & Drumbeat (MAC) (Note: AOD had Command Aces of the Deep as sequel, and Enigma is unlikely to be completed, plus had a Gold edition) 2) Submarine action games with no sequel iron wolves uboat & drumbeat wolf pack ssn-21 seawolf clancy's ssn 3) Well known Submarine action games with no sequel iron wolves wolf pack ssn-21 seawolf clancy's ssn 4) Well known Submarine action games with no sequel and active veteran dev team wolf pack ------------------------------------------------------------ My bet: Wolf Pack sequel. Was discussed already some time ago, before SH2 appeared. Novalogic is currently owned by .... Electronic Arts :hmm: and has the money for it. Additional notes: Iron Wolves is currently having a sequel in Deep Six, already known in these forums. Vivendi (Sierra owner) has repeatedly showed no interest in an AOD sequel (I know this first hand) |
Submarine action.....:hmm:
Up Periscope 2, by Actionsoft! |

...well if that ain't what Neal was planning on announcing you may have just influenced him to modify it! |
The best action submarine game I played was "Schleichfahrt"
http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/image...CL._AA240_.jpg the indirect successors "Aquanox/AquanoxII" never reached the flair and the gameplay dynamics of Schleichfahrt |

I was hoping for Destroyer Command II....:)
|
Meh. I am happy (for the most part) with SH3 and SH4 for now. It is way too early for another WW2 submarine game, unless it is as the Japanese ... I would be WAY more interested in Destroyer Command 2, and be able to command battleships and cruisers as well as the destroyers. I could do a cold war era game, but after SH3 and SH4, I am getting all sub-simmed out. I think it has been way to long since we had a great surface combat sim. The best one yet was Fighting Steel, and that is now an older game that won't run on several of the newer graphics cards ...
