Yep, I'll get on TS. Sorry...slept in today...got up to 31 seconds of footage. And I may just go all out music for the soundtrack...it'll be more...cool...I think...if not I can mix and match some stuff.
Hopefully break the 1 minute mark today. And thanks for moving the thread! :D |
Well, it's Monday.
I've been working over the entire weekend on this. And I'd like to say that I have results. Mind you only the people who I PM will be able to view it. Stictly because of privacy and quality control. Need to make a few changes. Not many, but a few...and have to re render it in high resolution, instead of what I've got now. |
Just had a peek and was very impressed
You have a PM ;) |

....nice! can't wait to see the finished product, should be awesome!
|
Can we see any more screenshots then, just to tease us?
PLEEEEEEEASE! :p:p |
Doing some new things for the next phase. Going to try and get the old ww2 footage feel the whole thing.
Maybe get some new music to go with it too...Anyone have a copy of "The Carosel goes around"? an old grammaphone worthy german song Edit: I would...however I'd have to get permission... ...and know that IF I release anything, it is by no means a hint that GWX or any mod of that name is even close to being released. I do not know when it'll be released, and even if I did know I would not tell. Although I might release little spins of footage...probably what I will upload is the...innocent stuff...a diving VIIC for instance in the way of ww2 film footage...camera on the top of the deck by the bridge, watching the water surge up over the camera to see underwater...that kind of thing...nothing that would even HINT to what will happen in the finished piece. But I will ask what I can release to the public. |

But I feel the whole "grainy WW2 footage" thing is a an overused cliche. There is a brilliant series that sometimes plays on TV called "war in colour" which is about the history of WWII, and all the clips they show is original colour footage. Seeing it is a bit of a shock, its not at all how you are accustomed to seeing WWII before... and it all seems much more real. Anyway, my opinion is instead of trying to look like a grainy old war film, you should be trying to make it look as REAL as possible. Just a thought of mine... but what do you guys think? |
There was very little WWII colour footage when compared directly against the total footage taken, but I agree in the sense that sometimes a bit of colour gets the message home better.
'Grainy' as you call it still has it's place. I suppose it's a matter of personal choice at the end of the day :yep: |
Easy fix for that. When I'm done I'll make 3 versions. One clean, one with the film effects like in the SH3 intro (the old film grain and lines) and one with the black and white with film grain.
Doesn't change much, and it'll make everyone happy :D |
Good idea.
|
I would think it would be easier to find the old grainy black and white film than colour, especially for u-boats. Land battles had camera men in them with colour footage, u-boats in most cases probably didn't! I prefer b&w grainy footage but thats just my personal taste.
