But the TypeXXI still needs work...it's a shame, that it was delivered in such an unfinished state, allthough I wonder how much better it can be, without access to the source-code? Those forw.diving-planes are the 1st concern, imo...they really need a manual-operation option. 2nd - imo - is the radar (FuMO64) switching-off in rough seas all the time > really annoying. I'm using seasonal waves in SH3Com. 3rd is the submerged topspeed...21kts is a little over the top. 4th: when in silent-running, at 30m depth, then order to surface, and secure from silent-running, the boat starts to dive - probably to crash-dive depth (my previous order)...I need to order Surface again. That's why I named the topic XXI GWX...I hope the GWX-devs are reading. I realize the XXI isn't the most popular subject, because "it never saw real combat", but in the end to me it's all about roleplaying...and the XXI is a nice subject for this, as it gives me such freedom. And after all, it's a great thing that GWX still can pull new stuff out of SH3, after 3 years! It makes me want more! Please, GWX-devs...I hope you put the XXI on your things-to-do list.:D Not that I'm dissatisfied with what I have right now. But I have the feeling it can get better. The official Überboat gets a sticky...while we already have it here! Gute Jagd, Ubåtskapten! P.s. the question about the FuMB37 Leros still stands... |
Next, I want to see what I can improve about the XXI-skin...haven't forgotten the skinning-tutorial that Danlisa posted in this thread ;).

I found it, using SH3-Unpacker. I tried to find a value to change the availability of the FuMB37-Leros (or the FuMO-64 Hohentwiel....still not quite sure which one I would get on the schnorkel!), using the same program, but couldn't find anything. So I tried SH3-Minitweaker, but I have no idea which tweak-file to load...and suppose I knew which, then I wouldn't know how to proceed. I tried Sensors_dat.txt, but I see no date-value. I'm puzzled!:damn: Btw, the forw.diving-planes keep behaving weird...sometimes, they extract when I dive, but sometimes they refuse to do so. I can't pinpoint the cause. Can SH3-Minitweaker be used, to change this behaviour? |
@Paajtor,
Rec'd your PM. Sorry mate, have been tied up with other issues ATM. Will respond eventually. :-? |
No problem, Kpt.:up:
I just wondered, if the GWX-team had any plans for the XXI-v1.04, as more players seem to take it for a ride, exploring the boundaries of this sim, so to speak. If you need my assistance, just PM me. :D |
Hi am wondering if anyone actually succeeded in running the XXI earlier in the war, I tried hard enought with the material available some time ago but achieved nothing but crashes and failure to load the game. I think it would be a lot of fun to cruise around in say 1941 or 2 with this machine.
So has anyone got or can they make a XXI mod that is JGSME capable, I am sure it would be well used. at present any venturing out in late 44 or early 45 with the XXI seems to be suicide. |

small teaser, typeXXI in July'44:
http://members.home.nl/paajtor/SHIII...nsk_teaser.jpg Been on a Murmansk-raid in this thing!...to hit our true and oldest enemy. Have to say, the long way in was hazzardous, mostly because of the 2m of water under our keel....at schnorkel-depth! But we pretty much cleaned up the entire harbor: first got rid of 2 DD's that were lying there stationary, then the rest was an easy prey. Sank all targets but one, with 1 magn.torp, set at 1.1m below keel...the fish were zipping along the harbor-floor, great sight! http://members.home.nl/paajtor/SHIII..._torpzip1a.jpg http://members.home.nl/paajtor/SHIII..._torpzip2a.jpg *edit* these 2 screens show the forw.planes-bug again.:-? I wonder if the closeness of the floor helped to increase the impact of the explosions...if rock, maybe?...if mud, maybe not?: http://members.home.nl/paajtor/SHIII..._torpzip3a.jpg It was all finished in 15mins...gotta love that 2min-reload, lol. :D Also decided to leave the 3 fishing-boats alone...allthough it was tempting to start using our 20mm flak-guns on them. Now we just left the Murmansk-channel...and look what was sailing nearby. Left of the next ship in line, the coastline can still barely be seen: http://www.61shap.com/pilots/Paajtor...newwater3a.jpg A HUGE convoy of big cargos, all-American, with this in the middle...:o How nice...still have loads of torpedoes, including 9 Zaunkönig-II's (G7es, acoustic homing at >10kts), and 6 LuT-I (G7a, ladder search pattern). I love those LuT's...you can set them in the weirdest patterns you can dream of, from any direction. Shame they are gas/steam driven, though. Next SH3-evening will be a long one, I'm pretty sure. :doh: First, we have to keep this on our (GWX 16k-) stern for a couple of hours, so that we can setup for a submerged attack...at 49m. That's about the max that this boat can launch :yep: : http://www.61shap.com/pilots/Paajtor...newwater4a.jpg |
