the Italian and german destroyers dont have any sonar or hydrophones equiped--swop in the SNS file from a british destroyer--(found in data/sea/) yup the sub is based on the type IIa so it hasn't got a deck gun--still just playing about with this idea at the moment--it's very difficult to mod for SH3 as an independant at the moment---as this thread illustrates--gets very weird--in fact if im going to get anything done at all --i'll have to stay out of here --it's allmost as bad as the great project mezzerwetzer atmosphere of Sh2 years-- |

One of the major things is how you get the role of WW2 RN subs into the campaign - a lot of the time they were tasked to ASW work (getting quite a few kills as well,) but also they were used far more often that their German counterparts for special jobs - up to and including ferrying supplies into Malta at the height of the Axis offensive.... No point in asking for the SDK I suppose...:D But, A workable and enjoyable conversion could be done....I'm sure of that. Ah, casting of from the tender at Holy Loch, looking out to another boat where they are filming 'We Dive at Dawn'...(anyone read 'Crash Dive'? thats one of the stories the author recounts.) Hunting in the Med...attacking U-boats as they put to sea... Now that I think about it, I wonder whether or not it would be worth waiting for SH4 for such a mod. The Devs would surely have to counter some of the more obvoius problems themselves for that game. |

instead of modding everything in the game you use an external program to show british medals- british crew members names ranks patrol zones etc etc--then it's up to the individual to show a little bit of imagination...sadly you can't enhance peoples imaginations me i just swopped the british flag for the german one and now every convoy i come across is carrying the german flag--LOL shock horror!!!! i guess in these days of super mods every-one has has a choice! no sense getting carried away--we're British don't you know ... |
coooool CB... really neat...

Yes, and a very nice sub it is too. At the same time I'm sorry if you think rubbishing your efforts somehow. I'm also sorry you think that having an idea about a possible mod shows my lack of imagination. I'll take it elsewhere... |

it's just the thought of another super mod materialising with the slightly competitive atmosphere at the moment ..not sure i could face it..but smaller touches like crew name and medal graphics to give some room for the imagination to work would be nice:up: http://www.ebort2.co.uk/files/submarine_group.jpg i found these but no details sadly--which is which etc the textures on the sub are still pretty ropy but i will suss this out eventually i hope and then it will improve dramatically--but meantime folks can at least ring out for pizza! http://www.ebort2.co.uk/files/britsubc.jpg |
I for one like it  while a full blown mod is nice at the same time I think just doing the little things like you suggest CB is good as well.. with SH4 coming sooner or later (who knows if it will be delayed  ) why not flesh this out some and have some fun sailing for those jolly chaps of the high seas .. hey what.. tea and scones for all with a tot of rum on the side :arrgh!:

Jap sub mod for IXD2 by CB
Once I had the sub mod by CB with different coning towers for u-type II and IXD2, but i Lost it when my PC totally crashed down. I found out, that these files aren`t longer available at CB´s site. I wrote him PM but he didn`t answer. I think he is no more activ in the forum. I really would love to get the japanese coning tower for IXD2 back.
Can anybody please be so kind to sent me the files. Thank you very much and excuse my bad english. Chris |
