For the benefit of others, I have checked <name removed by request> menu files and yes, my comment above, viz:

Thus, with the "adjusted" ranks and say GW, or Rub installed (and I know you don't have these mods installed), you'd be promoted to KptLt after your first patrol...not good.

is correct (well, one correction, if GW or Rub was installed so too would the correct ranks, so the player would still be demoted). Somewhere along the line a mod has been installed which has changed the base rank to ObLt. Good in theory, but instantly results in demotion when any mod that overwrites **_menu.txt, or SH3Cmdr, is installed.

The larger mods have taken what I consider a more robust approach by lowering the renown required for the first promotion, thus a Commander will only be a lowly Lt for the first patrol before getting promoted to ObLt. Further, changing the rank labels breaks the connection with associated rank images. It's really an awful bandaid solution.

<name removed by request> and anyone else with this problem, will need to make a decision. If you are not prepared to have your rank "realigned" to that of the stock game whenever you install a new mod, then you need to either:
a) install no mods that replace **_menu.txt
b) be prepared to give your text file editor a workout!

Hi there guys. Because an unnamed source chose to post a PM to me, to those that know me and have helped me, I apologise for any inconvenience it or I have caused.

I just increase the bonus from Naval Acadamey so I get promoted to Kptlt after 2 or 3 patrols.

31 mods is about 27 more than I'd advise using. The more mods you load on top of each other, the more potential there is for problems. If this problem is cropping up only when SH3 Commander is installed I'd have to say that the problem must be caused by one of your other mods interacting poorly with SH3 Commander. Do any of the other mods adjust the rank levels? I.e. if there's a mod out there that starts all new commanders at a rank of Oberleutnant zur See then SH3 Commander could very easily overwrite the effects of such a mod because it would overwrite the ranks to be the same as the stock game ranks. This wouldn't be an SH3 Commander 'bug' per se: it would be a mod compatibility issue. As Jaesen has said, a mod that adjusts starting rank labels is a poor solution and likely to cause a whole host of problems.

Let's end the discussion, shall we. I am using Commander and doing fine.
