Thanks. How do I get writing in red above my u51 sub signature?

martes86 04-15-06 09:25 PM

Oh, that's easy. Just write:

Code:

[color=red]TEXT YOU WANT[/color]
If you're quoting me, remember to remove the [code] thingies I added. :D

Cheers

Hi martes. Thanks very much for the information. I am doing my 16th patrol now and hope to find something good, perhaps a convoy :D Robert.

Couple questions

When submerged, I cannot get a view of my sub, how do I do that? Also having problems with key strokes, in a command to maintain depth = A, I have to repeatedly press the key before I get any response out of it. I am presently attacking a convoy and the seas are calm and I have my torpedoes set at 2 metres but I'm missing. :damn:

About the view, you have to press F12 for the free cam or the " . " for the ship cam. The free cam will not be accessible if you have checked in realism options "No external view".

Regarding the convoy, after you hit the fist ship or someone spots your periscope, the ships will start zig-zagging and it will be diffucult to hit them unless you are very close (between 300 - 500 m.) with steam torpedoes set on "fast", or very experienced.

Best,

VonHelsching

I hardy ever missed before on attacking but I guess there is always a first time  . I have to fire at shallow depths because the destroyers have a shallow draft. Thanks for the information about the view. In attacking the convoy, I have two destroyers after me, a Clemson and a V&W. I had to dive to periscope depth and I'm too far away yet. I have been sending the torpedoes slow or medium speed. :-?

Torpedo Range

According to the SH3 manual the maximum ranges are: G7a - slow, 12,500 m, medium 7,500 m, fast 5,000 m. G7e - 7,500 m. How realistic are these ranges mentioned in the manual. Are they actually correct in the game?

While submerged, I pressed F12 and all I got was a view of the surface yet I was 50 metres deep.

Read the manual about the way to navigate in external view using the arrow keys, shift and ctrl buttons.

A quick way to submerge your external cam is to press ctrl (and keep it), left mouse click (and keep it pressed) and drag the mouse towards your direction.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

I followed your instructions in using F12, Ctrl and the mouse and the external views I wanted, on the surface and underwater worked very well. Thank you very much. Robert
