German Translation

I used google translate:

Welcomely on the homepage to the play Subwolves, an independent strategy play, which one cannot use with silent Hunter IIIâ„¢ however must. What offers now this play? It is a strategy play to the submarine war in the Atlantic from 1939 to 1945. Slip into the role of the BdU of the German submarine fleet and befehligen you these after own discretion. Building of submarines, research and development, training, sea-clearing-up, personalverwaltung, support of the submarine ports from Norway to France and naturally actual, strategic and tactical using of the u-weapon. Why an independent strategy play, which one can use with silent Hunter IIIâ„¢? Subwolves follows the concept of the round-based strategy plays. From view of the BdU you lead the submarines into the fight. The fight (meeting own submarines with particulars or several hostile ships) can be let be computed alternatively by Subwolves or in real time in silent Hunter III be played to the end. The play principle is thus closely related to that of the strategy plays from that total Warâ„¢ row and the like. Should if I mean idea to my conceptions to convert to be able, then Subwolves becomes free of doubts an enriching for many, inspired silent Hunter IIIâ„¢ player, because it gives them the possibility to play the submarine war with a deeper Background.

This also reminds me of the upcomin Combat Mission Campaigns. Same idea Divisional strategy gmae where you can play the combat situations with CMBB. Exellent idea for SHIII looking forward to this.

I have been talking about this type of gaming platform for
about 10 years now. Of course, it has been just lately that
the PCs have been up to the task. MTW was one of the first
to impliment the strategic/tactical element. This type of game
will grow in the future to include possibly 3 levels of actual
gaming. Strategic/Operational/Tactical (from top to bottom)
Like getting "War in the Pacific", then "Uncommon Valor" then
finally "SH?" all in one gaming experience. Then when you
torpedo and sink a merchant, it matters somewhere in the
scheme of the strategic war.....

I'm kind of wondering though, if it will take away a lot of what makes SHIII fun for a lot of us. The RPG element of getting to know your crew and try to keep them alive sorta goes out the window. When you're done moving your units and all that in Subwolves and you fire up SHIII to do that part, you just get a random individually wrapped crew that gets tossed out the window after it's over. I don't know if subwolves attempts to deal with this or not, or if it's even possible to deal with it. Personally, I'm wondering how fun it would be to do a string of single missions with unknown crews in them, time after time. The suspense of losing your 22-patrol veteran crew would be gone. Losing your boat in Subwolves only means you have one less boat to throw at the brits, it's not nearly the loss that it is now in SHIII.

I'm not knocking the idea, I think it sounds awesome, but this is one aspect that I think will be tough to deal with.

I have been waiting for something like this for ages! You have a confirmed buyer of the English version.

Can I hope there will be individual Commanders for U-boats with ratings for aggresiveness, experience etc, so you can choose your best men for a Paukenschlag-type operation, for example? Will commanders and crews gain experience ('levels'!) by doing patrols and sink ships? So you would have to balance the need to include some of your most experienced COs in the North Atlantic wolfpacks, against the temptation to save them for long-range operations in quieter and 'safer' waters... And U-boat patrol lines, a few Condor planes to help in recce, re-supply U-boats? Hunter-Killer groups, ULTRA efforts to re-route convoys around your patrol lines, tactics for group-crossing of the dangerous Bay of Bisbay? U-flak? And... and... and...
(Please excuse me, I just got overeager!)

2006 just looks better now.

I agree with Trav, man you ARE a thinker aren't you? ;)
You get to really like (or dislike) your crew over the course of time, so when you're playing this game spanning whole campaigns it would be so nice to have your buddies around.

On the other hand, I do think that many players won't mind this issue that much.

Sounds like wolfpacks may become a reality.

From what I've read in this thread it sounds like you will get attached to each boat like you would now with your crew. 'Reasearching and upgrading' was metioned before, so I hope you will be able to 'buy' upgrades for each individual boat (or flottila perhaps).
Am I right Subwulf? Any chance that all the boats in the fleet could be individual units that have their own upgrades and career?

Sounds like a great project so far

subwulf 11-22-05 02:35 PM

Now, the Website is also on english available. maybe you have to press Ctrl-F5 to reload the site, after click on the english flag to get access to the english part of the website.

Yes, you can upgrade each unit with new developments or what ever, upgrade and giving medals to the crews, upgrade and giving medals to the uboat-commanders, they gain more and more experience during their patrols and escpecially during battles...
