Didn't they also transport a few of the Canoes across country, rebuild them and launch them in the Black Sea or somewhere?

The 30th Flotilla had six Type II's sailing out of Constanza. My apologies to Donner, whose text I'm borrowing, but the story of how they got there is great. Can you imagine passing a uboat on the highway? :o
