Hmm. Interesting you should mention that. I'll bet you didn't know that the makers of Full Canvas Jacket were accused of the exact same thing that X1 is now being accused of. We in the Red Baron 3D community were fairly sure they ripped off a lot of the scenery tiles from another commercial flight sim.

The makers of Full Canvas Jacket seemed to get away with it scot free. I just hope the same doesn't turn out to be the case with Seawolves.

I guess what I'm saying is that this type of dishonourable activity may be a lot more common than people think.

Really? I paid $28 for that!!! I used to use your superpatch until the website I downloaded it from removed the link.

If the rumours are true, at least they weren't ripping off mod-makers.

As for the Superpatch, it's still available at my website (www.beerymod.com), although I'm not sure how well the game works on today's machines. It's virtually a retro game by today's standards - you need an old computer to play it best.

That's great because I don't know where my FCJ CD is anymore!

Wow ... I'm a user of FCJ and a longtime lurker from the various RB3d forums; I never knew FCJ was so controversial. I thought that it was mainly the creator's work, unlike this here seewolves thing ... I don't know enough about the Red Baron scene to judge him one way or the other but I guess it's too bad that the big modmakers for that game had a falling out - all the more so given that there's no new WWI aviation sim in sight these days :nope: .

A little bit late...
but "happy birthday" to Jungman and "well said" to Neal!
:D

HEMISENT 07-30-05 07:09 AM

Happy Birthday Jungman
I appreciate your hard work as do a whole bunch of others here, put it behind you and have a great weekend

Kudos to Neal on the response to X1.

Wish I could get Red Baron to play right on XP. Looks like a fantastic game from everything I read but I could never get the graphics to appear correctly even with the xp patch(forgot the correct name)so I shelved it.

Whoa there! Can anyone confirm any of my *MilitaryMod* mods are in there??

As you know your skins weren't included in the 'open' build. IF they are in now, they MUST have been added AFTER 07/26...still WITHOUT your permission, right?

I'd go to the matrixgames forums, ask politely and file a loud complaint if the skins should be indeed in.

Nico71 07-30-05 07:54 AM

Forget Matrixgames! They have made their stance perfectly clear!

Happy birthday, Jungman. Sorry if you had the impression that my statement seemed directed at anyone who assisted X1. It was not my intention.

Beery, I had no idea Full Canvas Jacket had any suspicions around it. I suppose that even further emphasizes the importance of the community getting the word out.

Matrix Games is in the business of furnishing original and noteworthy games and content for games. I support them 100% for publishing second tier and specialty games and add-ons, nothing wrong with business. As I said, after investigating "Seewolfe" it's hard to conclude it contains much original content. One thing I'm certain about, X1 are sloppy and unethical. What do you say about a guy who brags about infected files on his server and uses the old "my nephew did it" trick?

I cannot see Matrix Games standing behind a box of free mods and trying to make money of off it. Year in and yearout, neither X1 nor Matrix has much to do with subsim games. Seems crass to poach off your work and make a buck.

Went there tonight, but the thread was already locked. Pm'ed the poster but haven't got a reply yet.
And yes, IF they are included it's without permission.

Jungman,

Happy birthday, nipper. I was worried about turning 40 but it was easy. Now 43, that was a real bear :dead:. New young girlfriend :D:, new creaking sounds coming from my body when I moved :o:, vastly decreased levels of tolerance for fools :hulk:, general increase in curmudgen index :nope:, etc. Now I'm pushing 50  and remember 40 almost as my youth. My advice: take every opportunity to enjoy yourself while you can :-j, its all downhill from here . And when you feel that mid-life crisis coming on, get a corvette :yep:. I cannot advise the new young girlfriend route :damn:, that didn't work out so well for me :rotfl:.

I have been using your work since I found this forum and discovered that SHIII could be improved. I never realized this sort of thing was possible or that there were so many talented folks working on it. And giving their work away for the enjoyment of others. Many times I have been moved to post a "thanks all you modders" message and you are definately one of the intended recipients. Really, thanks. I appreciate your work.

Let's keep this community together.
