Maybe I got an Army Commendation Medal for stopping a Spec Ops Team from landing somewhere. I never really put the two things together. I will have to watch for that.

I agree with supporting both, KFG makes a damn good submarine game and on a good day KFC makes some fine chicken, in a way the two kind of go hand and hand (a good game is even better, with chicken:up:).

Oh yes!!! Can't wait for the oil ring to be release but a side from this will we be able to drive a SSBN? I really like the Vanguard and i know it is kind of silly but i want to use it as a attack sub(i am using the playable sub mod and still they are not offical right?)

Yes, a random notice that ammo resupply is available for a three day period would be nice. But, I don't know that any old smuggler can toss a torpedo over their shoulder, plop it into a black rubber boat and meet you in the harbor at midnight.

But, then again, Norway is a friendly country. Don't the U.S. Marines train in Norway? They have hefty shoulders.

:D

it would allready help to be able to reload on the western coast of iceland
even if its just limited supply depending on what got through with the convoies

Query

Did I see a rumor at some point that we may anticipate friendly surface units / subs to contend with/cooperate with? Just curious. Think that would really stretch the game construct, but it would be pretty amazing too. Would love to pop up to periscope depth and zip off a burst transmission to an E-2C, then maybe do some inshore targeting for a CVBG strike package. Lots of other cool options I'm sure. Looking forward to Neutrals and oil rigs though. Spicing it up and making it more immersive!

I was one of those people who kept requesting the 688i and Seawolf. I honestly can't wait to play both of these submarines.

The Chinese campaign is icing on the cake.

I assume down the road they'll add a 90's Russian campaign with Akulas, so if anyone is worried about the lack of Russian stuff, i'd wait and see what happens.

I'm super excited for this new campaign and subs!

Do you also enjoy shooting (Chinese) fishies in a barrel?

Maybe :).

I play the 68 campaign the most, so it's going to be some fun with the Chinese Campaign being "Easy" with the Seawolf/688i's... it'll be fun to see the other side of the spectrum.

Still hoping to see a 90's campaign with the Akula/Akula improved added (with a playable Soviet campaign to go with them) down the road.

"Did I see a rumor at some point that we may anticipate friendly surface units / subs to contend with/cooperate with?"

Not "friendly" in the game sense, rather neutral (don't shoot vessels.)

Stated in the first post on thread You are reading:
New Playable Submarines
Two highly requested submarines are being added for players to skipper:
- Seawolf
- 688i

Neutral Vessels and Oil Rigs
Neutral vessels will now be transiting the combat theatre and oil rigs may be present in some regions, making it crucial to correctly identify targets before unleashing weapons.

What might be confusing is there are a great many posts on the forums talking about "friendly" ships and using the word inconstantly. In other words "ships on your side" but I haven't found any posts by KF that "friendlies" in the game sense ("Allies") have been officially announced. Neutral ships are not aligned with anyone and the battle just happens to occur around civilian assets and shipping lanes. Some games like this will have "escort" missions. These are the kinds of missions were friendlies/allies should be added to the game. The opponent then could not shoot their own friendlies but you could shoot theirs.

Great news!

Oil rigs and civilian vessels would be great to hide behind/under and attack from.

Would be nice to see some better landscapes, i.e. underwater formations, like steep cliffs and canyons that subs could hide against/in. Just like in Red October when they run through the canyon because they have a hyper accurate survey/chart to help them hide from detection.

Julhelm 11-16-17 06:26 PM

Those formations just don't exist like that IRL. We use real-world bathymetry data in the game. If the ocean floor looks featureless, it's because it is IRL.

zachanscom 11-16-17 07:04 PM

what do you guys think about noise maps like a procedural generated "detail" layer for different terrain types. i know on macro level, it's basically flat, but on a more micro scale, you'd see rocks, corals, etc

Julhelm 11-17-17 06:18 AM

I've been looking at ways to populate the seabed, but every day we spend on this is a day we don't get to produce additional content and gameplay features. So while we would like to improve the terrain, it is currently a low priority.
