Hi HL

Your picture shows a classic game corruption.

Always check in the Captain's Log (Hat) immediately each ship sunk has been correctly recorded.

This should be something like 1939-12-11 (Year Month Day).

If you see 0000-00-00 or anything other than a date then you have a game corruption.

As long as you have not had a Autosave In Game save then use the Esc Key and go back to the Main Menu.

Exit to the Desktop.

Exiting to the desktop at this point will stop your corruption from being updated.

Load the last save and start again.

If this fails to solve the problem and you get another corruption then you have the option of doing the following.

Use the Esc Key to go to Save Game.

You will see Autosave In Game (AIG) and Autosave Enter Base (AEB).

Delete all AIG's for the patrol you are in and any Manual saves if you made any.

You now have 2 choices >

1. Use the last AEB save.

2. Start a New Campaign.

If you decide on option 2 then delete the AEB save and then Exit to the desktop before starting again so your Game is updated.

You may have to start a New Campaign depending what action you took when you discovered the corruption.

If this happens again always come out of the game so it cannot save it as this will give you the chance to use the last saved game again.

I always have 0000-00-00 (or similar nonsensical ) date but again, when I sink some ship that tonage bar "thing" is properly updated...:hmm2:

THEBERBSTER 02-17-15 07:00 PM

Hi vdr

Yes, you are not alone as i have seen this reported by others who also said that there tonnage bar updated.

It does not make sense, as this corruption can still work the tonnage bar but not record the details correctly.

By the way I'm in the same situation as vdr, corrupted ship data and bar update (works like a charm as soon as I disabled online mode). Do you think that if I finish the mission and end the patrol the next mission will have fixed data?

THEBERBSTER 02-18-15 05:37 AM

Hi HL

Most likely, because each time you exit the game you create a unique saved game number.

This is why it is important not to use synced games.

When you start the game again this last saved game is in your Local SaveGames folder is used.

The outcome will still be unpredictable as it always is these days.

The oddity is that the tonnage bar works with the data in the Captains Log corrupted.

Personally I still would not like to play seeing those 0000-00-00.

Captains Log in the SaveGames folder

If you note the details or make up the details as best you can then you could edit the entry to make it mean something showing in your Captains Log next time you start your game.

You can fix that too. There are 3 CareerTrack.upc files in the game save, one in SH5/data/user/"captainname", one in SH5/data/cfg/0000000b/UPCInitial, and one in Sh5/data/cfg/0000000b.
There you'll find entries like this:
Code:

[CareerTrack 1.CareerStatusSave 75]
ID=
Reason=CSS_UnitDestroyed
NameDisplayable=_BR Medium Old Split Merchant#395
CurrentDate=0000-00-00 00:00:00
UniqueID=1629680233896550405
Title=September 23, 1939, 12:57
Text=Long  0° 35' W, Lat  55° 24' N|Ship sunk! Hog Island Type A Freighter, 4157 tons
EntryStatus=1
LocationName=
Location=0,0
TargetLocation=0,1
UnitDestroyed=KMSSHogIsland,_BR Medium Old Split Merchant#395
EUnitType=108
EUnitSide=1
Tonnage=4157

If you change digits in red, your destroyed ships will be corectly shown in captain log book. By editing these files in winmerge program I've managed to get back all shinkings for previous patrols in the log book except for current patroll. Still cant find the file which is responsible for curent patrol. Could be some ini file.

Hi vdr

Very useful information for the guys to know that when s--t hits the fan you can show a way how to overcome this type of problem.

I have a question; this happened:
http://i.imgur.com/EsfosRB.jpg?1

The objective was to kill any battleship (I assume that's the same as "kill one battleship) in the patrol area.
And so I did, as you can see I killed a QE, which seems to have been correctly logged.
However, the bar didn't update.

This is obviously rather anticlimactic.

So now I want to fix the campaign .cfg to correctly log the sunk battleship.
However, there is also a mission to kill 5 british ships in the same area (for which this one also didn't count).
so in the .cfg I found this block:
[Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 2.PersObj 2.Amount]
IsTonnage=false
Tonnage=0
NumOfShips=5

[Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 2.PersObj 2.CrtAmount]
IsTonnage=false
Tonnage=0
NumOfShips=0

Wich seems to refer to the 5 ship target, but doesn't mention the battleship target.
Where could I find that particular block?

Also, there's this in the CampaignProgress.cfg

[CampaignProgress.MisResult 22.MisKill 42]
Name=HMS Barham
ClassName=BBQueenElizabeth
Type=11
Side=1
KillDate=19400328
Tonnage=31000
Long=1743462.625000
Lat=8161134.000000
Height=-5.259110
IsFromSingleMis=false
FromNode=Scapa Flow
ToNode=NARVIK_Patrol_1
PatrolGroupName=NARVIK_Patrol

Should I change IsFromSingleMis to true?

Peter I am sure will answer your question when he
sees it :yep:

THEBERBSTER 02-25-15 05:14 PM

Hi Malcheus welcome to Subsim

No, as this is from one of the single missions.

Your campaign file will only show stock.

I also have OHII in this one.

As you can see the objective in my 2 is for 2 ships where in yours it is for 5

What have you got showing under this objective?

Thank you so much for the trick, i was unabled to complete the blockade of germany, even with unlimited fuel and unrealistic sensors, first time i got 3 AMC, but time was almost at deadline, so i gone for the carrier, found 2 carrier's task forces (2 separate), sink both of them, sink the ark royal in plymouth and no credit; later i loaded an old save to do that mission from start, all the AMC i sunk gave me no credit, i'm speachless.
Despite this game is almost 8 years old (i'm playing only since a couple o f month) it's still full on bug, the first time you start a campaing, after tutorial you can't accept mission, sometimes sinkings doesn't gave you credits, one time my camouflage disappears on mission, sometimes the sub submerge in the bunker; when the sea deepth is 150 m, all deep i give, the sub goes to 146-148, the only way to come up is to bowballast, and only then i can give periscope depth; the bottom of the sea and ship hittig the bottom is much worse than SH4, why they don't even try to solve problems?

Tonnage bar not moving

I may be wrong but i recently installed SH5 again after almost a year since I last used it. This time I was determined to follow all the directions properly. No joy soon went to pot no tonnage bar movement and after a short time crashing to desktop. I decided to try once more but this time I ran ubisoft installer and SH5 as administrator. I started the game , let it run the video had finished and the captain asks to see you on the bridge. I then saved the game and exited. I then went to Documents-SH5-data-cfg-save game-00000000-campaign-campaign. As i was reading through it i noticed some rather glaring mistakes the invasion of Poland stated unlocked=false. This should hav been =true.

The next few lines down

[Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 1.PersObj 1.Amount]
IsTonnage=false
Tonnage=0
NumOfShips=3

[Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 1.PersObj 1.CrtAmount]
IsTonnage=true
Tonnage=0
NumOfShips=0

the tonnage in the second paragraph should have been set to false as it was asking for the number of ships not the tonnage.
Something similar in the AMC campaign.

There where quite a few mistakes and I cant remember them all but after some time going through the file I made what I thought where corrections.

I have just finished the first campaign and dare I say it, it ran like a swiss watch. As soon as I start the next campaign I will be saving it immediately and going throuh it with a fine tooth comb.

Hope this has helped.
