Oh we where just as bad when it came to "kill the enemy propaganda" as anyone else.At least since Roman times and most likely long before that the powers that be have made the enemy appear to be as subhuman as possible. On a serious note, however, most of this propaganda was appalling by modern standards, mostly relying on Racist stereotypes. Still, it's job was to get people to enlist and fight hard, and it sure did that.

But when you compare that propaganda poster to pictures from the Rape of Nanking it's not that far of a stretch.
