He made his famous voyage to the Moon long before I was born or even thought of, but I have always regarded the first Moon landing as one of the greatest achievements of humanity.

Thank you captain obvious. :D. But I want to point out, that foot print has become synonymous with mankind's venture into space and exploration of the moon. Which when I see it will always cause me to remember Neil Armstrong (and others) were a part of.

A pioneer and a hero.

I was born in 64 ,I was not quite 5 when he landed on the moon but I can still remember the day clearly - I think it was that ,that influenced me to a life long interest in space and sci-fi.

:salute: To one of the bravest men I've ever seen, rest in peace. Your journey inspired generations to come, to believe in what mankind can do.

Not to belittle that first step on the moon, and what it meant for humanity, I think that Armstrong didn't do anything special there. He did what anyone would have done in that place; he simply had the luck to be the one that was chosen. I've always looked at his handling of Gemini VIII to be the true mark of his skill and ability to keep cool under pressure. |
Off to join Gagarin, Grissom, the crews of the Challenger and Columbia-godspeed sir.:salute:
