That reminds of the time I saw a UFO.

Was driving to work one morning and as I approached the main route through town I could see this very oddly shaped object floating through the sky some way off. I was still in an old residential district with lots of tall trees so my view of it was coming and going and not very good but, still, it was definitely odd.

From the shape and the movement it obviously wasn't a small plane or chopper, and it just looked... weird, like nothing I'd ever seen before. As I got closer I kept trying to figure out what it was and it just looked curioser and curiouser. Got on the main road and headed south, which would bring me closer, but still couldn't figure out what it was. I really was starting to get creeped out, heart beating faster, palms sweating, OMG WHAT IS IT?!?!?!?

When I finally got close enough I realized it was a very large hot air or helium balloon of some kind shaped like a high-top sneaker. :haha:

It didn't have any gondola which is why it wasn't obviously a "passenger" hot air ballon that someone was flying around town... some new athletic footwear store was having a grand opening and they must've had it on a tether of some kind and it got loose. But it sure creeped me out for a good fifteen minutes. :har:

Ya, Saw stuff like that long ago.
A GoodYear Blimp flew over and no one knew about them in our area.
So the whole block was freaking out for awhile.
:har:

That was back in the early '70's by the way.

Went through a similar experience at the age of 14 with one of those planes with an illuminated reader board on the wings at night. From a head on angle it like rotating lights on a disc. Flying saucers! OMG. I'm just glad the 'U' in UFO was quickly dispelled when it flew directly overhead and we could plainly see what it was.

Ooh, so close, back and left one! :yeah: I think we can call Privateer the winner on this occasion just so the rest of the thread doesn't get dragged down much further!
