Great link AVG :D

I certainly hope they are only 'remnants' if we happen to get the tailend of it.

Yes,they are called Chemtrails and they stretch right across the sky, whereas contrails from planes only stretch a short distance behind the plane, they are all over the world and Britain's skies are full of them

Yes, she is slowly being pushed by the jet stream that runs west to east across the US. Everyday her path puts further out to sea. That's fine by me. When we are really in the thick of the relief efforts I do countless days/nights with little to no sleep.

Yeah, it's little comfort for the Bahamas and the other places already whalloped but at least the East Coast should hopefully escape the worst of it, might get some hefty wave action though and some high winds but nothing like it would be if she made landfall as a Cat 4 or 5.

Then of course in a week or so the UK gets high winds and rain.

Actually...let me change that...

In a week or so the UK gets more high winds and rain. :yep::03:

I wonder if the Windy City will get hit? :88)

Well, places like the Bahamas and Haiti are not alone. USAID are there to assist and they do. I have charted helicopters for Haiti. The chopper was used to get medicine and personnel around the island after the quake. USAID is getting relief supplies around the world daily. Millions are spent by USAID for others around the world.

Even if it becomes a cat 4 it looks like a near miss to me. Jut those Islands of the Carolina coast to worry about, and lots of rainfall.

Not true! The coastal towns have evacuation plans and routes. These are used effectively. However, some people do not leave and often get into trouble or die. Most just need to get inland 10 or so miles. Much safer then sitting on the beach! This is no fault of FEMA's that some folks do not evacuate. And, FEMA is not the first responders. Local government is. Once the state is declared a disaster area by the President is FEMA activated to assist. The theory is way off the mark. :03: The depopulation is at the hands of those that do not heed the warnings to evacuate.

I was referring to the map of the storm's projected path, where its route covers the entire BosWash area.
This would be impossible to manage in this short period, however I don't doubt there are plans even for NYC for worst-case scenarios.

I didn't know that traveling inland for such a short time can already bring you into a safe area, as I have no Hurricane experience. I thought the safest would be staying in a secure building rather than traveling.

And my respect to your commitment, AVG! I hope it came out clear that I also don't believe that the FEMA is evil - well, at least not more evil than other agencies ;)

There is plenty of time. The storm is not going to be in the Washington Boston area until Saturday. We are only talking coastal towns. Evacuation can be done quickly.

Typically the storms looses energy once it hits land. Going inland gets one away from storm surge and higher winds. It is much safer. I have been through two hurricanes. I have been in the eye of one. Everything stops. No wind or rain. It is wild. Then the back half of the eye passes and it starts all over again.

No worries mate. However, I work for Landstar. I contract my trucks on to FEMA. You may call FEMA what you like! :) FEMA is not evil but they are sure still disorganized!!!!

I have a brother-in-law who believes the government CAN and DOES manipulate the weather thanks mostly to Nikola Tesla and his work.

When people like me ask him why we have these huge weather related disasters if we can manipulate the weather his reply is:

"Because they don't know what the hell they are doing!!!:ping:
In other words, "they" are causing them.

Perhaps one day I'll share his beliefs on mind control.:88)

I don't believe we are making catastrophic storms. Possibly indirectly with our daily activity (global warming yadda yadda lets spare the thread on this subject). We can make a cloud produce rain using chemicals.

Is it silent when you are in the eye, like the famous silence before the storm, or can you hear the roaring of the wind around you?

I prefer disorganized over "cash first, then we might help!" ;)
However the last time I was in an emergency, the first responders were from the aid organization where I am a member of. Spent my Karma points well :DL

The general idea is that it is much calmer and quieter in the eye of a storm.
