You mean for the IX? I didn't. I just edited SH3 Commander so it was an option in August '39.

a bit yeah, but the type VIIB looks so much better with it's net cutter! plus i like playing an old boat like U-28 as far as I can go. Big powerful boats don't interest me much. My favorite boat is the type II/D.

I start all my carees with IID. At least few patrols in every career with ol' dugout.

And fundamental difference between VIIB and C is fuel. C has more in it.

I believe what is most important is that people have the boat of their choice.

Oh, I agree. I would choose a boat with some resistance to depth charges, capable of doing 25 knots submerged, stealth, homing torpedoes...guess I'm playing the wrong era.... ;)

That being said, I think it all depend on the style of play you like. If you prefer long, ocean going patrols, incredible range and good striking power, you go for a Type IX.
If you like to get up close and personal with convoys, like a degree of stealth and undetectability, you go for the Type VII. I think they're both good boats, but they do require a different approach. Of course, as the war goes on and the Allies get more ASW capabilities, I'd prefer to be in a Type VII for the faster diving times.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

Fairly simple. The right boat for the right job.

If your patroling the North Sea to Gibralter and need a fast diveing boat with a decent load of torps a VIIC. With fuel conservation can always get to base or milche cow for fuel and torps.

If long range a IXB or IXC is the logical choice. Long Range and Large torp loadout. This is to simple to add more reasons.

Conclusion: The right boat for the right job. :yep:

Not at all. The Type IX was available in Flotilla Hundius, which was later mixed into the 2nd Flotilla, right from the beginning. Fixing something that was wrong is not cheating.

Now editing my game stats so I'm getting 99% renown while using external views? That's cheating. :sunny:

Since I play by Tonnage and not Renoun I just edit my Commander Patrol Log.
