^I owned this for a while. Bought it from my friend. I like my new LR4 rover, too, and it makes more sense with kids (air con, and 3d row seat (with loads of airbags, etc). |
My most favorite car that I have ever owned was a turquoise 1973 Oldsmobile Toronado, purchased in early 2006 for 4,000$ USD from a guy in Missouri. Turns out, the original owner was a low-level mafia guy in Nevada during the 1970s who died in the 1980s. Anyway, it's a great and stylish car, still have it and it runs great. Not to mention, purchased for a great price. ;)
One of my favorite cars from back in the day was a beige 2000 Lincoln Navigator purchased in late 1999 for 50,000$ USD. Great car all-around, but it broke down in late 2007 and was sold to a junk/scrap yard in mid-2010 for around 900 dollars. The only downside was bad gas mileage. This didn't matter in the late 1990s and early 2000s when fuel prices were low, but into the mid-to-late 2000s, as fuel prices rose, let's say the car burned a hole in one's wallet. :( I'm currently looking to buy a mid-to-late 1970s Cadillac Eldorado right now, but with the economy being the way it is, it's been hard to find one at a low and reasonable price and in decent condition. My dream cars that I would love to have for all time would be a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, and a 1996 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport. |
My first car was a '63 Ford Falcon van
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...g?t=1295580217 My favorite was the '65 Chevy panel truck; looked like this one http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...g?t=1295580266 |
What a great thread! Nice to see so many great cars and first cars. Except for Steve's. His is totally lame. :DL
I jest, of course. My first car was some kind of blue Ford tractor, assuming that counts. I don't know how old it was, just that my grandfather used it for work at some point. It ceased to function long before I was old enough to work the gears. I'd post a picture but it would be a terrible waste of ones and zeros. My next vehicle was a horse, and I am proud to say that I still own one today. It's a black and brown 93' Morgan. The grass mileage is terrible and it's a compact, but it handles superbly and the acceleration is great. Also, it's a total chick magnet. Well, not for me, but for guys chicks are attracted to. My first real car was a 1979 Triumph Spitfire. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...tfire-1500.jpg It was just like this one, but without the hood decal. I looked like an idiot driving it because the thing was really tiny and my head pushed up the convertible cover a bit, but nobody cared because it looked like a Porsche, and many people didn't know what it was. Also, it was very, very slow on the top end. These things have only a 4-cylinder engine (non-GT), they accerlerate quickly because they are light, but they have no guts. Also, they are designed impossibly poorly. Were it possible for an engine or drive system to be designed in such an awful way as to have the removal of any component require the removal of three others, I would swear that this car managed it. |
First car was a Holden Camera 1969 302 V8. Metalic blue
2nd car was a Ford Cortina! :yeah: Beaut cars. Then a Ford Falcon ute, then a crappy Holden Berlina what the hell was I thinking buying that piece of junk. |

my first car after passing the license exam. (Alfa Romeo 145)
http://republika.pl/blog_lu_3362602/...r/alfa_145.jpg ofc I didn't have all that fancy spoilers and indicators in the wing mirrors.A pretty good car but very expensive in maintenance. |

First car, though in a worse state then shown in this pic when I got it (but with the same dull grey, hehe). Put a lot of work into. Back then I had a friend with a garage, which made the upkeep pretty easy. Sadly I had to sell it when I moved. But the heck, I was the star of every parking lot. |
I don't have any memorable cars...I've only had three under my name since I got my license, two of those are the same model and make.
my first car was a 1993 Eagle Summit with a 5 speed standard. I made a point to get a standard shift car as my first. This isn't MY car...mine was a darker grey in the body color but it was in about this same 'going-to-fall-apart-any-second' condition http://www.reidonly.net/summit/images/P1050899.JPG Then I drove a white 1992 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme SL for a while. it had a 3.1 liter V6, and one night I hit a patch of Black Ice and sideswiped a telephone pole less than 200 yards from my house. I held the hood and cried waiting for my dad to spot me out of the ditch. I'll admit that I loved that car. I went back to the Eagle for a while, then, something incredible hhappened...I got anoter Olds. This one was better, a 1995 model with a 3.4 liter DOHC, in this shade of red. I tore apart the 1992 to fix everything on it. I've replaced the entire cooling system, fixed the drivers side door handle which broke off, the rear brakes corroded and I replaced them with the help of my dad. I replaced the starter by myself, the front struts were broken when we got it, we replaced those, dad and I. believe it or not it still drive it after I picked it up with 375,000 miles on the Odometer http://www.specialtycarcompany.com/c...7-4-06_092.jpg EDIT: Forgot to add the irony...Right after I got the new Olds, I bought an air freshener for it. The name of the scent? Black Ice. |
Oldsmobiles rock! :yeah:

My first car was a 1990 Mazda 323.
http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...6662346132.jpg Mine was white though. Nothing special but a nice car. Now I have it's bigger brother a 1992 Mazda 323f in the same colour as the one below. http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/al...3662343936.jpg I love that thing despite it's age (and colour:O:).:yeah: |
My complete auto history
No photos are mine, but the colours are the same!
First car - Citroen Pallas, like this one but with doors and wheel arches trimmed with iron oxide. Radio where the handbrake should be, handbrake where the radio should be, pneumatic suspension though which was fun with three height settings, and a cranking handle for those flat battery days! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3117/...726dde93ac.jpg Followed by Ford Escort: http://www.autospectator.com/cars/fi...t-III-0002.jpg Then Fiat X1/9 Bertone (great in the dry, suicidal in the rain!), and ran an Aprilia RS125 Extrema (the only new vehicle I've ever bought): http://images.hemmings.com/wp-conten...006/10/X19.jpg http://ts4.mm.bing.net/images/thumbn...1c594c89f00199 Till I wrecked the X1/9 and my mate wrote off the RS125 - he then gave me his... Ford Sierra Sapphire: http://www.ford-sierra.info/history/...n-1987-pic.jpg Ford Escort XR3i Cabriolet: http://cochesmiticos.com/wp-content/...-89-cabrio.jpg This is probably my most favourite car that I've had, I put on a K&N induction filter, 3" exhaust, Greenstuff drilled and grooved disks and pads and a set of Recaro Seats from an RS Turbo, set of white dials. Had it rolling road tested when it was ten years old and it was pushing out 105 BHP, stock new was 103 :yeah:. Sold it to some girl who within two weeks had rammed it into another car :wah:. Back to bikes, a bit bigger this time: Yamaha R6 '99 with carbon can: http://www.dansmotorcycles.co.uk/forsale/r60109102.JPG Then I had to become a bit more civilised with a Peugeot 406, which was the best equipped car I've had, and did me proud with regard to reliability (I put on 100k miles in less than three years with only the occasional oil/filter/plugs/leads changed) - until the cam-belt snapped and valves met pistons and I sold it on the ebay to three Czech guys who lived in Germany!!! http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...d_t56wDkMJ&t=1 Downhill now to Rover 420: http://www.whiteknucklemotorsport.co...Rover400TD.JPG And finally, the wife and I share two cheap, tiny cars that I get no pleasure from whatsoever, Ford Ka and Nissan Micra: http://imganuncios.mitula.net/used_1...7981938721.jpg http://imganuncios.mitula.net/nissan...0053147396.jpg |
