DS1 is very scary, it's just not haunting. It won't get under your skin and bother you after you've stopped playing, but while you're playing it cranks up the tension very well. I lost count of how many times I jumped.

to be fair.

Did you see my earlier post in this thread? I quoted the part I felt was relevant to that.

All of the reviews of DS2 are remarkably similar. Basically it's more of the same, with minor refinements to the gameplay and a bigger budget. Which means that, for me, the main incentive to play it would be plot development (something DS1 was lacking in). Most reviews say nothing of the DS2 plot, but the one I quoted does and it doesn't sound good.

I really like the idea of Isaac having some sort of internal struggle that's driving him mad, but it sounds (from other reviews) like this is not so much a storyline as an excuse to have scary nightmare visions in the game. SgtPotato (or anyone else actually playing it) please correct me if I'm wrong. No spoilers though!

I have to tell you that how much I hate the Stalkers in Dead Space 2. They are like the velociraptor nercomorphs. Outsmarting and flanking you with a headbutt. :damn:

Are you playing the PC version?
If so, how's the controlls?
Have they fixed/bettered them from DS 1? Like they said they would.

The controls worked smoothly than the DS1 one.

That's me talking :DL. Funy thing is I've seen some spirits a couple times on some rare occasions not through the physical eyes but they somehow got registered in my mind usually when they are on the move(not imagined at all and wasn't hallucination really). Though 2 of those were not actually friendly, luckily none is as scary as in any horror movie. I remember the last one it has got white light shining from both of its eyes like little lamp torch. Seems like it was an energy based being. I bet if it opened its mouth white light would come out of it too even if it's weak and dispersed.

I can get EA games quite a bit cheaper here than other publisher PC games.

DS2 is selling about 42 bucks here but I've decided to buy a new office chair and a new stabilizer besides the game not being able to tempt me enough. Looking forward to Shogun 2 and Dragon Age 2 instead. I'm even thinking to get my best friend a Shogun 2 copy...maybe when I stumble upon a bag of cash somewhere. The thing is I'm not so sure he's crazy over Total War series nor samurai. The other friend who would go crazy over samurai doesn't have the hardware needed to run the game on the other hand.

I had trouble getting a hang of deadspace on pc.. but onces I figured it out and edited some of the key.. it worked very well. Its just different to our more shooter style game. True its designed for console.. It played very well on pc.

Dunno if I will get the second one.. I like some aspects of first but to linear for my taste. no replay value.

But for that one time play through it was awesome experience.
