The spirit of our nation's belief in the concept of freedom of speech is tested in how we treat people who we vehemently disagree with.
I hate what these people are saying, but I would hate it more if their rights were infringed. Then everyone loses.

I disagree. I value the right to have an undisturbed funeral higher than their right to protest. The US courts came also to this conclusion by making a no-protest zone in the proximity of the graveyard for the time a funeral - I don't know if it only goes for a military funeral though.
I would even go a step more far and say I value the right of an undisturbed funeral more than their right not to have their heads kicked in! |
