Personally I love the guppy sub. Having to go through the Kiel canal is a pain, so I usually transfer with it to Wilhelmshaven for a shorter round trip. But the type II really is perfect for the North Sea.

The Type II is a good boat to cut your teeth on http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

Lot of great captain's got their first commands with one of the 'ducks'. Operationaly they weren't sent west of the North Sea that often due to their small opertaing range, the type II's have their distinct flavor and appeal; just like the type IX's. Some like the smaller and more restrictive characteristics of the II's that make them a challenge while other's prefer the Cadillac size and comforts of the IX's.

I prefer the IX Boats as I like to go further out to sea, yes its got lots of ells but I don't waste them on small ships. :)

Hi everyone. (first post!) :salute:

Just started a new career with type II and I love the tiny sub.
I'm biased though when it comes to the boat because it's the only submarine I have seen in RL.
Finnish Type II "Vesikko" currently serves as a museum ship in Suomenlinna (open during summertime) and I visited it when I was just a kid. It did not look so small back when I was around 8 years old!

She is the only remaining type II submarine in the world by the way.

Welcome, mate!
Greetings from Portugal!

If you don't know what to do, then its training for you, in a type two, fits like glove and bobs like a dutch wooden shoe.

But when your at sea you will get quite dizzy, bobbing about, just listen to me.......
you will get a bit pissed and throw up your fists when your torpedo missed cause you only have three!

The u boat you want is like a sports car, go for the VII cause its driven by the stars. It can go deep where you can creep, away from the cans that want to blow you apart!

You will be just like Prein, ya know what I mean, in this submarine that's a German piece of art.

In the type IX you should do just fine as long as you don't have to dive they will never take you alive. It can be found by sonar whether near or really far, its just to large like an undersea barge!:haha:

IX type subs

I prefer the IX types (IXB and IXC) better than the VIIB/C types. They have longer range , more torpedoes meaning more tonnage. They also have a larger deck gun , which is good for the early stages of the war.
Indeed , they can be spotted easier but they have stronger hulls and can take more damage (not though a hedgehog hit).

II

The II are nice. I do not mind starting with them. I like to get a feel for every boat. The IID has a fast dive time. Once U get to the VII boats U will be with them awhile unless going for a big one. Cherish the times in the II's.
