Still got them hence the second system already in the pipeline :DL

But what is this 'other games', surely SH3 is you life, there is no game other than SH3 :o

I'm looking at branching out to whatever comes onto the market next without having to check system specs for a year at least.

Yeah, I'm looking into something like Arma II at the minute :hmmm:

Well you just never know :DL

It will be far easier to determine what won't work with what because of an actual conflict instead of the old chestnut "have I simply overloaded the systems capabilities"? :hmmm:

Thats one thing I am looking forward to myself tomorow. Now I just have to get to a store and hope they sell the RAM I need in this town.

I just recently bought a MacBookPro laptop..

I'm wondering if it will be OK to run either SHIII or SH4..

Specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo
2.4GhZ Processer Speed
L2 Cashe: 3Mb
4GB of Memory
Nvidia GeForce 320M

Specs seem fine for it, but I think you'll need some other software to run a windows-based game on a mac. Somebody has mentioned it elsewhere recently but I'm struggling to find it, even with Captcha removed! :D

Edit: Found the other thread http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=172697

Use Bootcamp to set up a separate windows partition.
(Bootcamp comes as standard as part of your OS).
Specs seem fine.
Mine are very similar, and I can run SH3 and 4 + tons of mods just fine.

I'm done with SH3 for awhile, and maybe forever.

I've now started my fourth new career in a row. Each time I sail out of port and go to my assigned grid. Each time the weather turns bad. Each time I find I'm too old and tired to play the hours required for the weather to turn good again. Each time I'm forced to save in the middle of a storm. And each time when I reload the game I'm underwater and in a death dive. Every single time. It never fails.

Too many headaches. I haven't played a real career in more than a year, and now it seems I can't.

SH4 is much smoother, and I've never had a problem like that. But SH4 is still very incomplete, at least on the Atlantic side. It doesn't have the things I most enjoy, mainly SH3 Commander. I'll still fiddle around with it, because it's so pretty, but it's not the same.

I'll still work on the Ship Names, because that's an obsession I can't quit. And I may be in the position to buy a new computer soon. We'll see what happens then.

Sorry to be negative, but I'm very tired and very frustrated right now.

Sailor Steve, are you looking forward to a more functional/connection free SH5?

i know your problems can be fixed - (a bit presumptious perhaps but, i know you know that!) - with SH3, just sounds like you have had enough for now. stopped playing myself the other year - too much real life crashing in on me - had no energy. didnt think i would play again. the very thought of SH3 made me tired - no kidding. so i went back to COD2 with the Merciless Matador Mod ( alot of blood!!) - almost a new game with it. kill kill kill no breathing. ten minutes of that on Veteran level and i was out for the count!!

I couldn't run it anyway without a new computer.

Not in the least. If it would run without problems I'd be playing right now. That said, in many other posts I've said that I like the history more than the game itself. I spend so much time trying things out that I doubt if I've completed 20 patrols in five years of playing. If I like a mod I want to see it in action more than I want to actually play the game, which means that I don't want to remove certain mods to make it run better.

So no, I don't play anything else at all, I'm not even remotely tired of SH3, and I don't see a way to make it better short of a complete new computer.

Make your ships' names payware, at least until you get a new machine!

One dollar - one hundred names. I'd gladly donate a 'small' amount for some of these mods and names is one of them...

...but, I'd want to see you with a new fangled all singing all dancing mod machine and not a bloody guitar. :yep:

No offense!

Tap Jim up for a loan, he's obviously loaded at the moment :D

No, sorry Krauter.
You'll need an install disc.
