Grind is grind, and EVE is the biggest grindfest I've ever played (by quite a big margin).
To fly ship A you need skills X,Y,Z (and their prerequisites) which means playing the game (or at least paying your subscription) for a certain number of months (or years, if it's a big ship). Doesn't matter what you do in the meantime or how you do it; the minimum amount of time that has to go by before you can do something interesting is huge.

Not to mention after about a week or two (if you have planned out your training and kept on top of it) you will need some very expensive skills, so yes techincally you can "grind levels" while offline, but you will have to spend alot of time online grinding money to afford the skills and the equipment/ships to make use of the skills. |
