Obama is one of the more hated people in America... and he is milking all of this event for every drop so he can divert attention away from himself and onto BP.

one fact is for sure, the US Government has grown too massive, and is made up of way too many committees and organizations and pet projects - so many so that it is in effect, totally useless.

I didnt say i had all the answers there Budda... however, the fact remains that this has been a media bitching fest between Obama and BP, and though there are token efforts being made we really need to involve all the major experts in this instead of sending some go-green, tree hugging, hippie lab coated brainiac down there just so he can shrug his shoulders.

One idea im all for is submerging a massive non-nuclear depth charge to the source of the spill, then detonating it. Petroleum experts i have spoken with personally claim that there is a fair chance the thing will collapse in on itself, and the cave in could close off the flow. They have further pointed out various risks with such an activity, but share the opinion "This is already bad and getting worse... the time to do something was 3 weeks ago."

so far... thats what im in favor of. it beats the hell out of just driving a bunch of boats around in this muck and dolling out reparations to the victims (which usually comes after the smoke has settled... not while the fire is raging)

but, when it comes to petroleum, im just a lay-person. yet -I have heard more ideas circulated around my office water cooler at work from engineers I associate with than i have heard of on the news.
