Place your bets...will the server go out this weekend for yet the third time in a row...? How many times does it have to fail before the fans say enough...

And I didn't buy it either.....so there.

Seriously, I wouldn't buy it, mod it or have anything to do with it until Ubi patches the hundred silly bugs and upholds it's promise that all you need is a internet connection...Sounds like plenty have working connections that can't play. Why support and fix a game when they obviously don't care. Fixing it just promotes more sales, in which they will be less likely to ever fix anything and DRM will become the norm. Stop supporting it in anyway and maybe they'll listen and down the road we'll actually have a playable game.

Why? Its ruining this forum, which used to be about submarine video games. Now its about DRM. Lawsuits, bugs, glitches, bad reviews and modifications.

"To each his own" only works when "He" keeps it to himself.

Find something else to whine about, you must have a really shallow life if you love arguing about a video game so much. Its like a weeklong rant on super mario brothers and how they have ruined your life.

Sorry, did I miss the memo that said you were forced to read this thread?

Don't like a thread, don't read it. It is not exactly rocket surgery.

So then, what is the Radio Room of Subsim.com then, you ask?

Most of the threads in the last few weeks fall painfully short of that objective.

the only thing i can add to what john has said here is to clarify the term trolling

A Definition of "Forum Troll"

A "Forum Troll" is a person who posts outrageous messages or comments merely to provoke people to respond. The Forum Troll delights in causing discord within a forum. A troll is someone who inspires flaming rhetoric, someone who is deliberately controvertial, baiting and pulling people into a "flaming" discussion. Flaming discussions usually end with name calling, a flame war that can result in a locked thread and infractions given out.

Please Don't Feed The Trolls

Trolling is a form of harassment or want for attention that can completely monopolize a forum discussion.

Well meaning defenders can create chaos simply by responding to trolls. The more responses a troll gets the more ammunition he has to stir things up further.

The best response is to ignore a troll to starve them of the attention they seek, or to report a message to a forum moderator.

MattDizzle 03-16-10 02:52 PM

Let me also clarify that my defense of DRM is not to start fights, but its difficult to hold my tounge.

Option A: Say something
Result: You are a troll

Option B: Say nothing
Result: Haha! He's not talking anymore, clearly we are masters of debate and as such we will continue to stuff this forum full of crappy threads about bugs and trying to connect to ubi servers on unreliable connections or during hacker attacks.

Like it or not this subject is intimately related to SH5 as it is part of the game.

You can blame us whiners for trashing the forum but it's Ubi's decision that has turned this place into a circus. I'm glad people aren't giving in and are making their opinions heard. Even when told to take it elsewhere.

Sincerely,
Longer Standing Guest

thank you for posting that!

I spent some time yesterday looking through the subsim archives to see how SH3 was received back in 2005 and I was surprised by the difference.

first, there were a lot less posts, obviously we were a smaller community back then.

second, you also had similar posts where members complained or praised this or that aspect of the game.

But the biggest difference was the tone. Members disagreed, but everyone was respectful of other member's opinion, even when we discussed something as divisive as Starforce.

It was clear that all members were motivated by a mutual desire to improve SH3.

But something has changed, this forum now has a meaner, cruel overtone. Many posters are only interested in winning an argument, no matter what tactics they use, showing little or no respect and freely insulting anyone who disagrees with them.

I really don't like where this forum is going. It's not the old Subsim forum I used to know and like to hang around in.

1) I've always been able to play SH5 so far.

2) Just curious.. Have you ever heard of ''NEUROSIS''

Effects and symptoms

Quote:

...anxiety, sadness or depression, anger, irritability, mental confusion, low sense of self-worth, etc., behavioral symptoms such as phobic avoidance, vigilance, impulsive and compulsive acts, lethargy, etc., cognitive problems such as unpleasant or disturbing thoughts, repetition of thoughts and obsession, habitual fantasizing, negativity and cynicism, etc. Interpersonally, neurosis involves dependency, aggressiveness, perfectionism, schizoid isolation, socio-culturally inappropriate behaviors, etc.
