And the cost for this luxury? AU$70 per month!

And I consider myself lucky. Some of my friends that live up the road were on dialup until 12 months ago!

And I'm willing to bet that there's many people reading this that wish they had what I have.

It's very funny reading posts from (mainly) Americans saying that if you have slow internet then you must be living in the sticks, thus don't deserve to play SH5. Get a dose of reality guys - there's a big wide world beyond your shores. ;)

I live near Clare, about 140km north of Adelaide, all other towns around me (dozens) have dialup only, I am also one of the lucky few with 256k broadband, been like this for years!! Let alone all the other towns through out Australia I know nothing about!!:-?

Remember when your parents would tell you that the anticipation is always better than the reward? :hmmm:
What does it mean when anticipation is slowly, over the course of months, whittled away en masse to pure apprehension. What do you do then?
I won't lie, I'm sure I'm going to get the game (use of game, not sim, intended), but I just wish I was going to do it with some serious excitement as opposed to having second thoughts all the way to the counter.
I want to be using one of these  right now.
But what I'm feeling more and more with everything we learn is this:cry:

Maybe iv been out of the loop, but do you guys have a link the source where it states you need internet connection....bad move from Ubisoft!

The Devs do all they can to satisfy this community, but Ubisoft just works against them. Must be frustrating...

That really sucks. But ...

Unfortunately the most user will just buy the product. So UBI does not care about their DRM. So the users think. Damn it i want this game, i'll buy it sooner or later.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I'd gladly take internet authentication over having to put my disk in every time I want to play.

The chances of the UBI servers ceasing to exist are probably about the same as you damaging your disk.

And even if at some point in the murky distant future when everyone else is running around a holodeck generated Silent Hunter 15 and you want to dig out your old copy of SH5 I'm sure there will be sufficient hacks to get it working.

Its not that you just need authentication. You must be online 100% all the time when playing the game OFFLINE! If not you cannot play the game.

There is no "fact" regarding this whatsoever. UBI has made no promises at all regarding addons. All they've given us in this regard is shadow and supposition. Not "fact."

How does it work? And how much does it cost. If I can't connect my computer to the internet at all, how do I get this pay-as-you-go broadband?

Quote:

Yes you will have to spend some money, but it will be worth it.
Really? Worth how much? The reason I can't connect to the internet is that I can't afford it. How is it worth it to not be able to afford an alternative?

I just think we should be glad there is another installment to the only current half decent Uboat sim. :damn:
HALF decent is right.

Not no, but hell no. I did not appreciate having to replace my DVD drive because of that crap. Starforce is right up there with DRM on my schitt list. :haha:

Who is Ubisoft hurting with its DRM/OSP?

Peope in US midwestern states.
Submariners on patrol
US troops in Iraq & Afghanistan
People in rural areas of South America
Merchant and navy sailors

Americans who holler a lot about "Supporting our troops" should be outraged.

May I also add, that the number of people in Europe without a perma connection or on a transfer limit is not exactly small either. :03:
